well since the universe is supposed to be infinite, i would guess an infinite amount of galaxies could fit into it.

i personally dont think that anything is infinite, it limits mans capacities.

E. Infinite.
It was a couple of months ago that scientists were looking at a pic in space. They focused on one tiny dot in the corner of the picture and observed that area for a month or so (forgot exactly how long). Anyways, they found that there was a galaxy in just one little spec of that picture. So, they dont even know how many galaxies there are, they are finding new things every year.

short answer is: all of them. real answer is: The Universe expands as new galaxies are formed and shrinks as an previous one disappears. In different words, the universe relies upon on the project in it to exist.

Two different questions....

The universe might be "infinite"...that is. growing larger without bounds but that is only an hypothesis

The matter in the universe might be finite...

So..you may or may not have a finite universe...but it seems likely -at this point, anyway-that there is a finite amount of mass

Of course,,,,these "truths" can change quickly....as in....
"dark matter" which may lead to an infinite amount of mass

Then, there is the problem that -under the right conditions- mass and energy are the same.....so....maybe the question should be

Is the universe's energy infinite or finite???

Or

the answer is 42

Universe is like a dark hole no one can answer that question even a great scientist, only God knows it because He's the One who create the universe and galaxies and specially human.

F. None of the above

(The Hubble Deep Field Survey has detected hundreds of billions, by some estimate trillions of galaxies)

Not counting those galaxies that may be receding from us at greater than the speed of light.

im gonna go with F.none of the above

and thats because no one knows the answer to that.. lol how would you grade it?

what proof does anyone have that the universe is infinite space? you cant be certain of something like that when the opposite oppinion is also possible

The galaxy is infinite and there are so many galaxies out there that we don't even know about.

No, the universe is not supposed to be infinite.

However, however many galaxies you have, they are in the universe, and there's always room for one more.

The further you travel the more strange it becomes.
The universe you see is the horizion you see when you look out of a window.
