People just like to criticize and attack on these forums.
In addition, it is difficult to decode attitudes from typed print. People don't decode what you write in the same way you encode it.

It's like those talk shows you see, people don't need to hear both sides of the story. People don't need to know the details. All the need is the slightest indication that someone is political incorrect and they are ready for war. Your friends know and probably respect you. You could bring up a contraversial subject with them because, they know who you are overall. Your credibility is good with them. On Yahoo! Answers, they have no idea who you are as a whole. Give them just the slightest hint that you are racist and they will assume that you are and be ready for war.
To sum it up here. People will interpret a statement differently based upon the source of that statement. President Bush and Osama Bin Laden could release statements that were exactly the same, yet both would be interpretted entirely different because of the source. Your friends know you and they will of course interpret you more accurately than the people here that don't know you. Don't let it bother you man, if the Yahoo people you speak of knew you, they would probably be more like your friends are with you.

I think it depend on the circumstances. Without knowing the context that the accusation was made, it's hard to say. Spookshow Baby mentioned anonymity ..and that may be correct. Perhaps the person who made the comment is racist. I see some incredibly ignorant things said here so perhaps it would be best to forget it and forgive them..they know not what they say.

Why is anyone called racist? People are just trying to be trendy, ya know. Those days are so over. Did you know that the pacisfist era in Cali is over too. Yeah, they try to fist fight anyone that says the word Jew (re: frugality, good with money) as though they are racists for saying it and that they are the new defenders of the Jewish people., who do quite well for themselves. Yeah, its just a queer fad. Meant the old fashioned way of course.

The anonymity factor on this site allows for people to escape any true accountability that they would have to face in a real life, person to person encounter. Most people would not be so bold in their statements in real life, speaking directly to a person's face, as they are in the safe atmosphere of the anonymity this site provides.

People are afraid of all they cannot understand. I understand racism as a muslim when before I was part of the "crowd". Thank God I am now myself!

how did somebody critizes you for that???what is your perspective??and what do people on the yahoo answer site have to do with your friends?? this is the reason why people answer other people questions wrong because people assume we know what their talking about.
p.s. there's no animosity with this note. just specifing the obvious.

Because racists are basically masochists who come here to get insulted and feel good that they got any attention at all.

It's not easy being honest face to face when I'm afraid you might pound me. And isn't that raicst in itself, from both of us? That I think you might be violent, and that you don't put your friends at ease that you won't be violent.
