It is not much use to try to be a nice person with this bird. Usually if a bird survives an initial attack, they are not much good. Maybe the vet can help; but even a vet will tell you not to waste time with a lost cause.

Put a bird cage out there with a sheet over it, and put seed and water in it. If the bird is in there, it wont see you coming and you can close the cage door if it goes in the cage. Unfortunately it is very hard to get the bird to trust you. If it can't fly, walk up as close as you can get to it, then throw a lightweight towel over it. Pick it up gently in the towel and put it in a box with air holes or a cage with a sheet or towel over it so it won't get more scared. Take it to the vet as soon as possible. I hope this helps and you can catch it!

If it can't fly too well, try the towel right away. Or stay out there so the hawk won't come down until the bird calms down, and then try to catch it.

It sounds like you've done great so far. For now just take care of it and give it cockatiel food. You may want to bring it to an avian vet to have him checked out. He may not have eaten for some time before you found him so he may need extra nutrients.

Since he's been so horribly traumatized it may take him a while to warm up to you. Keep feeding him, take care of him, and he should come around. Cockatiels are very friendly birds when they get to know you.

this could be various species for the reason that possessing and flying birds of prey has greater interior the united kingdom. As for resident wild species, it would desire to be the Sparrowhawk, Buzzard, Goshawk, Kestrel, or possibly a pastime. using colour you state the legs are, I doubt it would be the Buzzard (except it became an early Honey Buzzard, who're not often seen until around the top of might). The Goshawk is mild of color yet generaly has orangey bare legs, and the sparrowhawk is brownish on the backside. extra no longer likely species to be are Montagu's harrier, buit devoid of extra info alongside with physique and wing color, it somewhat might desire to be any of the above.

The bird has obviously been hurt-would be wise to take it to vet,but may be too expensive. Don`t try to handle, handfeed,or scare the bird-you`ll only defeat your purpose....leave it in the cage and don`t mess with him, other than food, water, cleaning . When the bird shows interest and not much fear-get his wing feathers trimmed, don`t ever take him outside.Take it slow and easy, read the birds cues...
If the bird has an obvious broken wing-you can use sock with hole cutout for head and/or splints on both sides of break (then taped).

You may not be able to tame him but he will learn that food and water come from you. Just dont try and handle him right now give him a month or so to settle into being in the home you have made for him. Then slowly try to gain his trust after that. LoL Sorry I went through that I put thin gloves on and took hold of it ,I used to stroke it everyday sometime at the beginning it would bite hence the gloves, eventually it stopped and I used to let it follow me all over the house, quite funny really it came too trust me so much that I USED TO PUT IT ON MY BALCONY and he would just sit there and not fly away, Patience is the word

although birds are natural flyers---this one don't know how to, or it may be injured by the hawk---you have to try to catch that bird since the "predator"knows its there --he will be back---sometimes as the bird is cooped up its not getting enough exercise to keep its wing muscles toned for situation like this---it probably hit its wing when trying to land on a branch, or maybe it left in a hurry from its cage, or maybe the hawk.
all in all try to the best you can

Please don't think me cruel for saying this, but you probably can't help the poor thing. He's terrified and likely traumatized by the hawk... and with so many birdy diseases going around you have to think about your safety as well.

Let nature take it's course. You've already done your best.

to make friends with the bird, keep it near you but safely in the cage, and try to feed it treats through the bars (like unsalted pretzels) and give it time, it sounds like the bird may have trauma.
