My dog is a real wimp.But i love her to death. She snaps at people alot.People she doesnt know. So no one can really pet her except me. Im afraid one day shes gonna bite someone, then she will have to be taken away. Is there away i can get her to stop.

Your dog is afraid because it hasn't been out and around things and people enough. She is afraid of who and what she doesn't know. The best thing to do is start walking her in parks and things. Start with short periods so she isn't overwhelmed. 15 minutes, 30 minutes, etc. After a while she will realize that the people and things she sees aren't a threat and she will stop.

I know what your going through. We have a Yorkie that isn't worth crap for watch dog ! LOL Might as well say : Come on in I'll tell you where everything is. Mean while she's peeing every where with excitement. But, we love her any way. Too bad, she doesn't snap at anyone................ She is like I'll go with you! Lap Dog For Sure !

Why did you allow her to even snap once at someone?
By not correcting this behavior you are encouraging it. Get angry and very sternly and very loudly say NO. Don't hit her, keep telling her no. Soon she will know that she has disappointed you with her bad behavior. When she responds to the NO command, give her lots of praise and tell her what a good dog she is.

is she a small dog? often, they are intimidated by people right in their faces. She should be allowed to come to them, they should not seek her out. Explain to people that she should be allowed to approach them, not the other way around. Also, ask visitors to just ignor her when they first meet. It will make her more comfortable. If you dont want to have to deal with a long "people training process", the best thing to do, is to just give her a "safe place" that she can go to when people come over. shut her in her own area where people will not bother her.

you have to socialize your dog. Take her to store they allow pets in (petsmart or petco) Speak to a trainer. If you cant trust her to go in public, put a muzzle on her and take her anyways. She got to get used to being around other people besides you. Make sure to also socialize her with other dogs and animals( cats, squirles, etc...)
