I think that if they realize they've made a mistake that God will deliver them from the desire to dress as the opposite gender. I'm Christian but I believe that God made different types of people so I don't condemn them, nor can I judge them. I don't know what it would be like to feel that way, and so I can only be grateful that I don't have to deal with it in my personal life, and pray for those that do. I also happen to believe that there is no sin that is greater than another. I think sin is sin to God. Certainly there are crimes that carry greater worldly penalties, but so far as the weight given to one over the other; the wages of any sin is still death (separation from God) but Jesus Christ can also wipe a sin slate clean no matter what it contains. The main thing is to find your way to God. You don't have to clean up or do anything special before you go to him for forgiveness. He takes us as we are and if we are earnest, HE is the one the does the heavy cleaning and gives us all the most Extreme Makeover of all!! LOL

Y'know, mentality like this is why I can respect Jesus, but not the fanclub.
Okay, first of all. Transgender people have a deep and sincere belief that they are in the wrong body. It's literally driving them crazy, and no amount of drugging them or whacking them upside the head and screaming they're "sinful" is going to help. They've bloody well HEARD IT. They've tried, and tried, and worked themselves to exhaustion trying to accept being that thing on the outside when every fiber of their soul and mind are screaming that the truth's something else.
As for a theological explanation? Well, Pagan with Buddhist leanings here. Mistakes happen in nature, deviations from the template. It can be as simple as a six-toed cat or as complex as cojoined twins. And sometimes, to amend the error is the greatest kindness. No one would accuse a mother of cojoined twins of being "wrong" in separating the children. Transgender, as far as I'm concerned, is the same principle. The more spiritual bent will point to reincarination theory and say that some souls are inherantly one or the other, and that a chance to shape the body to match the soul within IS God's work.

Society has largely determined what "acting and dressing like" a particular sex is. If they turned their life over to God, he would change what needed to be changed. He would take the perversions and wipe them away.
This is at least what I think would happen.
EDIT: Christ did not preach "acceptance" of sin to those of you who say "the church preaches acceptance". He certainly did preach forgiveness. And by no means should someone be hated because of their sin, as we are all sinners. The point is that God did not make the mistake of making someone who is male to change into a female. All of this, by the way, was not possible before modern day medical technology.

Being transgendered has nothing to do with God or religion no matter what the the practitioners of hate and discrimination who believe the bible gives them the right to do so may say. If God is supposed to be love, and if God created man/woman in his image even the transgendered are accepted. Don't let the flawed and narrow minded religious zealots who proclaim to be Gods Messengers dictate how you live your life!!!!!

While the christian church preaches forgiveness and acceptence you will probably be turned away. But I'm sure if you just act what the general public considers normal and don't mention the whole transgender thing to people I'm sure they'll just assume your normal.

I know this is probably a waste of time, but just for the record, being transgendered is not a sin. God doesn't make mistakes. The sin is our own fear, ignorance and prejudice.

Or, they could give up the assumption that Christianity is a good thing to follow, and be themselves and not let religious bigotry ruin their lives.
