well, since you have only had him for two days, give him a little while. Some birds take a while to get used to their new surroundings. It is sometimes good to cover the cage with a blanket for a while...maybe a day, but that is when you first get thim so that they can get used to their new cage. Just leave him for a while till he is comfortable. (a few more days.) if he still dosnt drink, then call a vet, but just give him a while to de-stress. put his cage in a quiet room, away from a lot of people and activity for a while. I am sure he will be fine.

Millett is good for the bird right now as it is high in fat an calories and the bird will burn extra calories when it is nervous. However after the first week only offer it millet as once a week treat.

As far as the water goes, my guess is he is drinking when you are not around. A small bird will not drink an amount you can notice in one day.

Just keep his food and water fresh daily and in a weeks time the bird will adjust to his new enviroment.

Ok relax

Budgis come from the deserts of australia, despite the fact that they have been bred in captivity for almost 300 years they still have wild instincts and needs.

They can go up to 3 days some individuals more. Your bird could be drinking when you arent watching him.

you can meake him more comfotable by talking to him calmly and softly, no fats movements, as they see this as a threat, and no constant staring as they see you as a predator trying to hurt them.

go slow it may take a bird anywhere from a few days to a week or more to be eating, and drinking comfortably, and maybe even longer to bond to a human.

in time if you work with him everyday he should come around.

I've worked with and kept a few parakeets, I can help you with questions directly, you if you want can email me anytime at fatwhale90@yahoo.com

Be patient! Your bird is adjusting to it's new home and surroundings. It will drink water when it's ready, but if you have water that tastes different than what it is used to, you might want to try bottled water and see if that helps. Also offer it some fresh yummy little fruit pieces...cut up grapes, etc. Some little guys even like hard boiled eggs that are chopped into little pieces! Give it a try and good luck!

It can take up to 7 days for a birds to settle down in their new home. Make sure the water dish is clean and detergent free. It is possible he might not be used to the water dish you have for him, you might want to try one that was simmilar at the pet store where you got him. Give him a couple more days to aclimate, and if he still worries you, it would be wise to take him to an avian specialist, who might find a medical reason for this. Good luck

Leaving the bird alone would make it feel at home faster then trying to mess with it. In 48 hours you have had it it may not drink in front of you but take my word for it it isnt thirsty. Give it 14 days to settle in and feel at home.

Sometimes birds will be more likely to drink it if the water was in a more brightly colored container. Birds like bright colors.

He probably is drinking the water when you don't see him.

Give him awhile to adjust to his new home.

Also, he may be getting to much millet, vary his diet, he will
eat. They always do.

good luck
