I think a great one is:
Wednesdays with Morrie.
It is based on a true story and very very influential. It has a lot of great meaning which we all tend to forget @ times.
I think if you sit and watch it you will most definately learn something and be influenced in a wonderful way...

its a little broad but here are a few:
books- the bible-self explainatory
the koran-just as influential around the world as the bible
"autobiogrphy of malcolm x"-should be required reading for every american
movies- i don't know how old you are or what kind of influences you are looking for so its harder.
" to kill a mokingbird"-classic
"psycho"-slasher classic
"ichi the killer"-modern gore movie classic
the problem with this question is that it's something only you can answer for your self. you may want to ask for classic movies and books, you'll get more responses.

"All the King's Men" by Robert Penn Warren. The book or the movie, you can't go wrong either way. It was based on Louisiana governor Huey Long, a very corrupt guy who nevertheless did a lot for the poor and downtrodden. "Every man a king," he said. I had a consulting gig in Baton Rouge and one Sunday went to visit the building where he was shot and killed, the tallest capital building in the U.S. There is a monument to him in front of the building. And that is where he is buried.
