Even someone who has a religious label attached to God would not describe God exactly as the person sitting next to the in their place of worship would. God is a personal experience and relationship and if you do not feel the need to share you worship with others in an organized way then you do not need a label. Many people find comfort in labels, it helps them identify people whose beliefs are closely related to their own. Some brave souls strike out on their own to find an understanding of God for themselves and refuse to apply a label to their beliefs. Both ways are okay, and all ways lead to God if you are truly searching.

It's much easier to buy a pre-configured God than to buy a God now and attempt to install an off-the-shelf religion over the top later. You always run into compatibility issues. These things are set up for you to make the religious belief experience much easier to get to grips with at home.

Christianity was a name given by the romans as a way of taking the pee out of them. This was because the emperor had a cult that worshipped him, and used to go around all happy clappy with tambourines and all that, and Christians used to do similar so they got tarred with the same brush as a way of taking the mick. The real term used by Christians at the time was "the way" and this is what they used to regard themselves as followers of the way. As long as you have Jesus, you dont need a label.

Most of those religious dogmas have been tested and refined through many long centuries of prayer and analytical thought by some of history's greatest thinkers. I don't think anyone needs a label, but when your relationship with your Creator is at stake, you really ought not to just take your best guess. I suggest that you pray to God persistently, and ask Him to open your eyes to His truth.
Blessings to you!

I'm a Muslim. But somehow I do agree with you. U don't need a religion actually to accompany God. And even if u do follow any religion I don't think that none of them teaches us to be cruel to each other, or do harm to others, or any kinda bad stuffs. It's the followers who make it look bad or make different meanings of what actually the religion says. And they do it on purpose. They try to get something out of it, I believe.

No way! I think organised religion in simply a bridge or pathway which guides you toward your OWN discovery of God. Dolly Parton said it beautifully in the movie, "Steel Magnolias". I quote, "God doesn't care where you go [to which religion] as long as you show up"! I believe you just need your own heart to show up... or as you say, to accompany my God!

i agree with what C S Lews wrote in the chronicles of narnia aslan said as long as your a good person and worship your god it dosent matter what religion you are you will still get treated the same when you die

"Please," said the Lamb, "I can't understand. What have we to do with the Calormenes? We belong to Aslan. They belong to Tash ... They say he has four arms and the head of a vulture. They kill men on his altar. I don't believe there is any such person as Tash. But if there was, how could Aslan be friends with him?"
The Ape jumped up and spat at the Lamb.
"Baby!" he hissed. "Go home to your mother and drink milk. What do you understand of such things? But the others, listen. Tash is only another name for Aslan."

thats an exerpt from the book hope you get the drift

Religion is an obstacle for the true spiritual person. Spirituality is "lead by the spirit". The first step is knowing yourself and then the growth of your spiritual personality. If you get involved with any religion they will massacre your spirit and use you as a tool for the leaders.

I suppose you personally do not have to identify with any particular religion.

However, when you do have a particular belief concerning God, it usually goes along with one of the afore-mentioned religious labels.

For example: Whenever I say that I am Christian, I identify myself as a follower of Christ. Whenever I say that I am Catholic, I identify myself as a Christian who believes that Christ Appointed St. Peter as His Rock.

Here's another example: when a person says he/she is Buddhist, he/she identifies him/herself as a follower of the Buddha. When that same person says he/she is Tibetan, that person identifies him/herself as a follower of the Dalai Lama as an incarnation of the Buddha.

By contrast, if a person, such as yourself just says "I believe in God," it doesn't explain what exactly you believe(other than that you are most likelie monotheistic).

You only need a "label" if you accept Jesus as your savior.

"God" is a term that people use in a universal way to name a being that created the world and has all knowledge, all power, and so forth.

However, you can't get to God without accepting Christ as your savior. And if you accept Christ as your savior, you need to call yourself a Christian--because your salvation is "hingeing" on this one God who walked the earth as a man. This God is very particular, not amorphous, not vague, not far away. This God ate dinner with people.

I know this probably doesn't make sense to you. Hopefully one day it will.
