My memory has been pretty crappy for the last 5 years or so, and I'm sick of it. How can I improve it? I have a visual memory (remember a lot of things as pictures), and I am wondering if a photographic memory is acheivable, too.

Things such as a photographic memory are ones we all wish and would love to have, I am sure, but only a certain percentage of people are truly blessed with. It isn't obtainable by pills or memory games either. You either have it or you don't.

However, there are things you can take to sharpen your memory and there are "games" or "skills" you can do daily to improve HOW you remember things.

Go to www.ask.com and type in "improving memory" A HOST of sites will come up with more information than you can remember to use!

Err, I forgot the question!!!

No seriously, I used to have a crap memory, sometimes had to really think of events two days before. There are books , CD-Roms etc., that you can use to improve your memory.
For instance, I do not read books etc., I simply scan them and know their content, and yes photographic (visual) memory does come to you after a while.
I have also found that your long term memory also improves, (I am 40+ and now remember things from a very young age, which I could not before).

I read somewhere in Scientific American (magazine) that good sleep has a lot to do with memory/storage.

I have also randomly heard that caffeine is good for long term memory, but bad for short term memory.

I play Brian Age on the Nintendo DS and it seems to help my memory and thinking skills. If you have a DS, try it out; it's only 20 bucks.
