Is it that everything in his life was fulfillment of prophesy, and the man lived a life jumping through the hoops God set for him?

I'm an agnostic, in my world view there is no God, so for me, Jesus is the main charachter of a story, and the New Testement authors read all this stuff from books on the shelf and said this master of ours was a great rabbi and his message is important to get out. They might have believed he was messiah I don't know.

To me I get the message without the religious need to run on my knees and pray for forgiveness, but the secular message I get and try to live.

So in my view the authors wrote those stories based on what was on the shelf, and Jesus if he lived had free will. Cause for me in a universe without a God, we have a natural free will.

Just curious the feelings of the yahoo answers community.

My parents, grandparents, brothers, sisters, cousins have had a greater impact on my life than Jesus, God or any other idol fabricated by the human mind.
I love, loved and respect them. I also respect the fact that people need something to look up to and be accountable to. Mine is family and myself. Others have a fear of the unknown.

Jesus was both fully human and fully God. Im sure he might say something like this: "disobeying the Father is impossible for me because I and the Father are one."

Did Jesus have self-determination? Yes! Just as much as any other human. In other words, his actions determined his outcome. And as a result of his divine nature, his actions were to serve God to the fullest by fullfilling Scripture.

The Bible wasnt meant to just be a book of morals. The whole point of the Bible is to teach Jesus. The whole point of Jesus is so that you may be forgiven and have a restored relationship with God. If you dont have a restored relationship with God then Im afraid you missed the message of Scripture.

Pointing to his disciples, he said, "Here are my mother and my brothers. For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother. -Matthew 12:49

When Peter cut off the ear of the guard. Jesus said I could call millions of angels to do battle for me. But this is to be fulfilled so that people would know he was the messiah.
But it was his free will that brought him to the earth and his free will that made him want to fulfill those scriptures.
He could have left at any time and not died to buy back for us what Adam lost. It wasn't necessary for him to die such a painful death. I think Satan had a hand in that. But it made the other angels realize just how cruel Satan really was.

Jesus made His own free choice, though it was pre-destined, and it was known by God what choice He would make. Sometimes...if you have a child, you'll know that if there are two pieces of cake, they'll take the bigger one; you don't make them do it, you just know they will. God knew what Jesus would do. But Jesus made a free-will decision as the man God had sent Him down as, in spite of the fact that He was God.

Hi,,, this is one of the best questions i have seen dealing with Christ...(not religion)......

I have studied the Bible.. and even though Jesus was from God.. he had free will to choose... He knew what was going to happen,,, and was told by ,, Moses and Elijah,, when they appeared on the Mount of Transfiguration ,, when Peter saw them... That the plan was still for him to be sacrificed for all of us here on earth.....
He prayed,,, until drops of blood dripped down on him in the garden of gethsymine, for God the Father to pass this cup ,,, if possible,,, but if Not,,, his will (God's) be done....
He obeyed to the end..... and if you happen to see that movie last year.... Lord have mercy ,, what a horrible way to die....and that was a movie.....
think about it...... Good Question.... !!!!

good luck

once Jesus became human by birth, he had free will just like you do. he simply chose to remain true to his destiny even though in the end he was afraid.

i think the writers connected the prophecy of old to the life of Jesus after his death, not the other way around.

if Christ was not fully human there would be no point in his suffering, death, and ressurection.

1 Peter 1:19-20:
1:19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
1:20 Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,

Under the light of these verses, we can see, God in Bible had planned to kill his only begotten son from the day he has created earth.

definite -- the very actuality you do something opposite is properly what became pre-destined to commence with. at the same time as particular activities take position on your existence you would possibly want to no longer comprehend why at the moment, yet continuously further down your "direction" this stuff change into more desirable obtrusive and then you already comprehend it became pre-destined all alongside.

Jesus was God. Since God required a sacrifice as payment for sin He chose to come to earth and sacrifice Himself for the sins of the world..

That's the real short and skinny of it.
