It pretty much boils down to less sauce! In the US pizza and pasta are both usually served drowned in tomato (or some other) sauce and/or cheese. In Italy, they use just enough to moisten, and to bring out the flavor and texture of the star player: the (good-quality) pizza crust or pasta. It doesn't need much adornment if it's really good to begin with!

Yes, each region of Italy has its own specialities, also they are cooked correctly not quickly and not in mass production, hence the flavours are more intense.

Duuhhh... Of course, the same way chinese food is different in China and Mexican food is different in Mexico, or if you go to Japan and ask for a Vegas roll they are going to laugh at you.....all the food that we have here is the american version. Which is fine with me.

yup, in america, we have americanized it, fatty, well actually some italian restaurant they serve it just like in italy, u just need to find that kidna of restaurant, the easiest way to find it, is if it has an italian name, and not american name

Like mexican food. Most of the "Mexican" food we eat is mor american then mexican.
