i'm gonna make chicken stir fry for dinner, but i don't have any cornstarch to mix with the soy sauce. could i use flour instead?

or does anyone have any other ideas? i have chicken, white rice and frozen stir fry vegetables to use.

Here's what I heard:

You use twice as much flour, but you also have to cook the mixture after you've added the flour to "get rid of the flour taste" it said. If you're going to simmer that sauce for a few minutes afterward, it should be fine. I did this and my recipe turned out fine. I'm sure cornstarch is better, since they called for it.

you could, but the recipe calls for cornstarch for a reason. It will thicken,but leaves the sauce clear, unlike flour. Also, flour will leave too thick of a coating on the stir fry. Corn starch is lighter.

You can use flour. I would add a little salt and remember... flour clumps much more easily than cornstarch. make sure you add it a little at a time. Good luck.

u shouldn't it will change it's taste, only if u know how to change it
