Pros:
- probably the best night-life in the US
- a growing metropolis, even talk of pro sports teams going there soon
- lots of women who like to party

Cons:
- It's always hot. Most lawns don't have grass because it just doesn't grow there.
- Sex, strippers, hookers. If your boys are coming with you, you'd better keep them on a leash. If you had a daughter, she can only be pregnant once at a time, but boys can be dad's all over town.
- Gambling - I'm not against it at all, but there's casinos all over the country and if you have weaknesses along these lines it might not be the place for you.

It seems to me like Vegas is a place for young, single people. If you ask someone "What are the first things you think of when you think of Vegas?" and they say something other than gambling, sex, sin, booze, party, hookers, or strippers, they are lying. It's not someplace I'd want to raise children, not someplace whose tourism slogan is "What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas". If I were a musician of any kind I'd move to Austin, TX, Chicago, New York, or Nashville.

Cons It's very hot here. Your first summer will be the worst. Everyone has central air. Our last electric bill was $300. Jobs can be hard to find. Get the job before moving here. Second worse state for jobs. Las Vegas is a transient town even when there were more jobs. Friends can be hard to find. The three main industries are gambling, construction, and mining two of which have dried up. There are no defined good or bad areas. Streets can have both slums and expensive homes. Alot of homes are underwater and/or forclosed on. If you move your car here, it may not do well in the heat Mine doesn't. It's an "Adult Town"; not a family town. Good pizza or cheesesteak is difficult to find East Coast brands of food can be hard to find. Expensive butter and other foods. It's a 24 hour town No color. Homes are all colored brown School system is rated among the worse in the country. Ground is too hard and dry to plant any kind of garden. Pros Lots of entertainment and deals for locals Wider roads for driving Mild winters, but snow isn't far away. Lower cost of living It's a 24 hour town. Police are diligent, especially on the Strip. Cheap buffets and restaurants in about any cusine. You don't have to go far to parachute, zip line, etc You can vacation in your own town You can go swimming outside in the middle of winter. Pure unpolluted blue sky Several nearby state parks

I'm never against any type of move to Las Vegas. I'd move there in a heart beat! Not much different than other metropolitan areas other than just an influx of tourists and conventioneers. The drug, gang, crime problems are not much more than other major cities. I heard that the job market and education is on the rise there, and salaries are almost equal with the US average. There are also temptations of gambling, but easily dismissed. Lots of things to do there, especially for families and never a dull moment. Enjoy your move and best of luck!

Well first of all the Metro police are very racist. They have this law called the yellow light law. well if the light turns yellow and your not white they give a ticket for running a RED light. Also they'll give you tickets for running red lights where there is no signal light. If your not white middle class you will be harassed. People there are very two faced and they hate outsiders moving there. So you better know someone that is already established there. Their attitude is welcome to Las Vegas. Now spend your money and get the **** out of here. They blame all of their problems on California like the influx of Backs and Mexicans. You will see that when you go to court. The only people there will be Black's, Mexicans and poor White meth heads. As for work, it is all about kick backs. Just like in New York. So be prepared to give kick backs like money and even drugs. A large amount of the older population actually do allot of Coke. And I don't mean Coka Cola. It's a city that never sleeps and the dregs of society congregate there.

Well since you're a dude... There's always the legal prostitutes.

That along with the gambling and the bars makes for an interesting atmosphere for a musician... But the fact that you're a dad, leads me to think that these are the very things that will end up becoming both pro's and con's considering.

What torment! Poor slob!

I keep hearing that Vegas is growing really fast and the job market is pretty darn good right now. Down side is that it gets really hot in the summertime. 100 degrees and up is common. Lots of showgirls and dancers - a big plus.

You know my wife went there for a business trip and she said that her allergies nearly dissapeared. She liked having not to use her allergy pills and inhaler. She said she could breathe easier also. Whether or not that is a reason to move there, if it were me i would. Cons? It is an expensive way to live if you dont have a professional career.

It's too hot and the place is filled with people who are after a quick buck. That's what it attracts. It's anti-union. The college eductational system is poor. It's a cesspool. You don't need it.
