criminal trespassing punishment?
can anyone tell me the possible punishments for criminal trespassing for a juvenile. i live in south dakota and there werent any signs or anything and the house had been vandalised in the past but the deputy said that there was nothing new. and i was not asked to leave they just told me to face the wall and put my hands where they could see them. there was no alcohol drugs anything involved. do you think that it would be possible for me to settle this out of court? also the house was boarded up and the owner lives out of state.

Yes, they can Prosecute for that offence even if your a minor, even if the person who lived there was not there. As far as prosecution is concern, yes it is quite possible to settle it, but it's going to have to go through court, if the state is involved. Advice to you would be get a Lawyer or your parents , because depending on your state laws you can do community service, Jail Time, or well the owner can always resubmit the case after out being thrown out and charge you with other charges, like making up a stories on how his broads are all cracked up and the window broke etc...take it easy and good luck, ( as far as being qualified to respond to this, My husband is currently serving 3 years in jail and about to get out in October) take care

most likely if you have no priors it will either be dropped or you will get community service for a few hours. ... if the owner is a prick your parents might get slammed with the bill also.

nothing they will let you go juveniles walk free learning that its ok to do what you want so feel free doesnt matter
