You didn't go out enough to swim or fish or camp or play croquet or toss the frisbee, when he was a toddler.
Does he have an all talk, no action Dad that you don't necessarily get along well with? That is what happened with my youngest. HE was so smart he was clumsy to compensate, but I did not get out with him nearly enough and his Dad was all work no play, selfish non participating father figure. Get with big brothers and sisters program and find someone that he will enjoy spending time with. His motor functions are obviously fine but need to get the rest of his body going asap. Fun is key.

It may be benifecial to start an outdoor famliy day a picnic is a great way to start bring the bike's or balls or frisbee dont take no for an aswer.
I would sugest also limiting tv and game times to after evening hours so that he is forced to use his imagination a bit more there probly is nothing wrong with him he just is to content playing video games and watching tv he doesnt see the benifits of out door fun you can also try seeing if he would like a sleep over that would be a camp out in the back yard he would see that way that media is not the only thing his friends are into and start shying away from media on his own
the only thing i can see wrong with him is that he has to much time available for media make it less available.

Maybe nothing.
What's wrong with video games? Let him play. Challenge him with what he enjoys. Get him involved in the creative processes used to make games and television shows. Maybe he likes the technology or the drama in those entertainment mediums. That's fine.
Of course, a total lack of activity isn't good. Make him stay active but encourage his interests. Walk to school with him. Along the way be willing to talk about 'character development' or 'polygon manipulation' depending on his interests. Soon, he'll treasure those walks which in fact will help him further his true interests.

Some kids just don't like being outside. I would limit the video games, TV and computer, maybe cut them completely. He would probably get very bored and go outside. My son doesn't like sports, so when he goes outside he plays with bugs , frogs, lizards, makes forts and things like that, he doesn't have to play with a ball outside. I would suggest making him ride a bike though that is great exercise.
Your son sounds more like an intellect, so nature should be very fascinating to him.
My son just did a science project on his own, he caught tadpoles and watched them grow into frogs in about 2 weeks.

Nothing is wrong with him he just doesnt like to do physical activites. You should be glad that he is doing well in school. Let him do what he wants but dont let him get overweight. Try signing him up for like the boys and girls club or the YMCA. Maybe he wants to but is afraid he will get hurt. Try to explain to him that if he has on the proper pads riding a bike will be safe an fun. I hope this helps and is you are really concerned then take him to a child-developmentalist, but personaly I dont think he needs it.

you. simply put. you have taught him (by giving him the games, and allowing him to just sit and wach the tv, and the computer) that it is ok to be lazy. turn OFF the tv and un plug it, lock up the video games, and put a pass word on the computer. only let him on the computer for home work. when i was younger my parents never let me spend all my time doing those things. we had them, but it was for a reward that we got to play the games, or wach more tv. we had 2 hours a day to wach tv.
i am 16 now and i ride my bike most places i go, i love to ride it. my bike cost more than my mom's car ( because they made sure that i loved to be out side i saved up for this bike, i baught it my self because i love to ride), my favroite place in the world is "the wilds" christian camp. it is in the mountians, and every thing you do is out side in the woods. its lovely. you have to take control and trun off the stuff that will rot his brain, he may be smart now, but if you let him sit and do nothing but play games and wach tv he will stop learning and be dumber than a post. my parents let my younger brother get away with it, and now he cant read or spell above 2an grade level. he is 13 years old.

Many more children are turning to TV/Computer?Games because they are so readily available and new games come out EVERY day so they never get tired of them. If these items are restricted, the children get bored with being in the house very fast and go outside in search of something to occupy their time.
So, don't buy new games unless it is a special occasion, limit tv watching to certain hours and shows, and the problem 'should' solve itself within a day or two.

do not problem too a lot. Many 2d graders are nevertheless no longer tremendous readers/ writers, noticeably at the same time as they commence 2d grade. the very undeniable actuality that he struggles may also make him frigidity and by no skill pay interest (that entire ADHD aspect might want to be over-rated, noticeably if it really is an same instructor who became so dismayed through his interpreting and writing) easily, i might want to commence through setting up some tutoring/ college artwork time on a daily basis (per chance an hour?) operating with him one on one with A) help him immensely and B) might want to assist you spot first hand regardless of "particular needs" your son would have. the first aspect i might want to do is bypass over the alphabet. i'm positive he's popular at the same time with his letters, even with the undeniable fact that some youngsters do not continuously seize on basically how those letters function (phonics) There are a great number of phonic worksheet suggestions on-line. cause them to exciting and do them at the same time. 2d, get thy self to the library! lol. he will have a great number of time to "artwork" with the worksheets and video games. He also needs opportunities to delight in books, to hearken to you as you study, and to artwork on his e book skills (what's the plot/ subject/ utilising the index/ personality/ and so on) Many libraries also furnish courses, incentives, comic books, magazines... all effective. WRITE. Get him a mag (stickers on a computer works effective). supply him a subject matter (what did we do at present? what's your sought after sport? tell about dad) DRAW. remember an excellent form of interpreting is the skill for the concepts to make certain the words on the web page and get a picture in a unmarried's head. when you study, have him draw (rather of basically write) his solutions or maybe basically retelling the tale. BTW, no matter if you may not discover the money for some position like Sylvan, i'm positive you'll discover instructors to prepare for far a lot less -- attempt Cregslist or an section college who can hook you up with Edu scholars.

I'm not sure whats wrong, but one thing that I have observed, that has been used at some schools, is those dance pads for video games. I know your goal is to get him outside, and of course that's the most ideal, because he can run around get excessive, get essential sunlight, and be more social. But I only suggested this method because it would give him something more active to do, while also playing his games.

Set a time limit on the amount of TV and video games he can play and use them as a reward. He is not interested because these other devices keep him inappropriately entertained.
My boys will sit in front of TV or Video games unless I set a time limit and use them as rewards..i.e. when chores are done 30 minutes, when homework is done 30 mintes...etc
