I'm afraid you are overweight. You need to lose about 20-25 pounds to get down to an appropriate weight for your height. The best way to do this is to develop a healthier diet and get into an exercise program. You don't want to just lose weight, you also want to develop some muscle by using weights or doing resistance training. This will also speed up your metabolism. Talk to you parents about helping you develop a good diet/exercise program. Believe me, it's much easier to do this now. It's much harder to lose weight when you get older!

Have you had your "growth spurt yet " 12 I was 5' 4" and in one year i grew to 5 ' 10" ,I am now 6 ' 1" and 46 yrs old. Not only did I have a growth spurt which helped distribute my weight within one year,I was a heavy kid at school in grammar school, but in 8Th grade and high school i thinned out,but I started to gain weight again when I was 18. Most of weight problems actually are hereditary,so yes you can blame your parents if you want, but it is up to you also. I would suggest signing up in sports at school even if you don't think you can make the team. Sports are so competitive at the high school level, and coaches can sometimes be mean also and only pick the fastest, thinnest kids. I was very active in sports at 12 through about 17 years old and maintained a good weight level. When I started working is when I actually gained weight as a youngster. Skating ,rollerblading, ice skating, basketball, volleyball, soccer are all excellent sports to consider. If you have these available to you take advantage in them at school even if you don't think you can make the team,I know i repeated myself but be diligent on this and don't get discouraged because the weight will come off believe me .

Your ideal weight would be difficult to determine without knowing your bone structure and body type. A good rule of thumb is 100 pounds for the first 5 feet and 5 pounds for each inch over that. Thus is your case around 115.
You weigh too much. The way to handle this is not with a diet. You need to change your eating habits. Stay away from white foods, sugar, flour, rice, potatoes, etc. Eat lots of steamed vegetables without butter or cheese.
Stay away from fried foods. Drink 8 glasses of water a day.
Walk for an hour a day. Doing these things will change your life and your out look on life. Good luck.

Yeesh, what the hell is wrong with some of you? I guess the sand in your vaginas was extra itchy today.
Anyways, aHahaA, some of the other posters provided good answers. If you're still wondering about losing weight, I would suggest asking your doctor for the healthiest route for yourself. You are still very young, so some things that you can do as an adult wouldn't be a good idea at your age, and could be harmful since you are still growing.

Well 5'3, with a weight measurement of 142. Your BMI would be 25.2. And If you're overweight your BMI has to be from 25.0 - 29.9. So I would say you're slightly overwheight according to you BMI. And you could lose all that weight in like an 1hrs (1hours) worth of excersise, which would be an entire day's worth of regular excersise on a minimum basis. So you're not all that bad. No worry's.

For someone who is 5 foot 3, I think 110-120 would be about ideal.

Yeah, you are a bit overweight. I'm 3" taller than you and weigh the same amount, and I'm a bit overweight. Not a lot, but we both need to do more exercise. Grrr.

I am sorry but yes you are. but that is not a bad thing because you are still young. Being healthy is the most important thing you can do for yourself. I would recomend thinking about having a healthy diet of good food. Lots of fruit and vegtables and plenty of water. It is recomended that we drink half our weight in ounces of water. To start with a glass each morning when you get up first thing. That will get your metabolism started. And if you can try to be as active as you can vs. / watching alot of tv......
Good luck you will be fine

hunny im 5'6 and weigh 140... but my best friend is 5'3 and wears a size nine... and she looks physically skinnier than i do... so it all matters on your looks and what you feel comfortable looking like... BUT if you wanna get technical.. your bmi is 25.2.. the ideal bmi for sumone your hight is ne where from 18.5 to 24.3... so maybe loose about 10 to 15 pounds if you think you need to... but dont loose too much... the twiggy look is SOO outta style.. haha<3
