Hi!
Wax 101:
I have braces right now so I know how to put the wax on. I usually put a little less than a pea's size of wax on or even less than that. All you have to do is squeeze it into a ball and stick it on the place it hurts and make sure it doesn't fall off. If it does squeeze it into a ball again and pinch it down so it stays. You should probably carry around some extra wax if you have a container to put it in. Also, don't feel like you only have as much wax as they gave because you can always buy more. I know I was stressing myself over not putting the wax on because I was afraid I would run out but then I just ended up having huge cuts in my cheeks.

When brushing your teeth just make sure you get everywhere! I know your dentists probably said you should you brush after every meal but I usually do it 2-4 times a day. I still don't know how to floss though. I did find that using a toothpick to pick your teeth definitely helps.

I hope this helps!

Not as scary as it seems, Greta. Take a little wax (maybe the size of a ball point pen end or a pencil eraser) and roll into a small ball. Put it right on the spot that is poking you. Try to make it cover the parts that hurt and besure it is sealed tightly to the brace. Brushing your teeth is the same (except you remove the wax first), but be sure you floss well! You want to make sure that all the food particles are off your braces, and from between your teeth. Do you have the floss threaders? You can find them at any retail store or pharmacy. They are very helpful. It will get to be routine in two or three weeks.

yous as much wax as it takes to cover the metal first and for most. There are usually only a few spots that rub agains gums. Brush in circular motion also making sure to get inbetween the grooves to get food out.
