I had to memorize them in 2d grade (inner maximum college). i'm able to rattle off all 10, the two Catholic and Protestant numberings. it fairly is tough to no longer understand them as a training Catholic, via fact the pre-confessional examination of expertise of right and incorrect ritual revolves around the ten Commandments. I additionally understand which chapters of which books of the Bible have the three lists of commandments, which comprise the *only* decalogue that's fairly called "the ten commandments" by ability of the Bible itself, besides the shown fact that the checklist is unrecognizable to maximum Christians. approximately public places: i think of you may desire to be greater careful approximately your wording. I have not got any probem with the ten Commandments published in public places, and neither do the yank courts. I do have a concern with the ten commandments published in government venues or with government money. the former (as i see it) is secure in u . s . a . by ability of the prohibition clause of the 1st modification; the latter is unlawful by ability of the employer clause. All civil libertarians could understand this serious distinction. (i discover it infuriating, or particularly circumstances comical, while a Bible thumper would not understand the type.)

Ah, you're intimidated by belief? I'm so sorry. I can't even imagine a world where seeing a Jewish symbol or synagogue, a muslim temple, a Buddhist shrine or any of those things would intimidate me. Must be just horrible. I can't even imagine how scared you must be. And worst of all, the 10 commandments! Just because our laws originated from them is no reason to scare poor little you. And those horrible people who lost a loved one in a traffic accident, having the nerve to put up a cross to commemorate them, just be downright unbearable. I really think you should move to China, oops, they have shrines there, don't they? I just can't understand why symbols of someone else's faith can be so upsetting. No offense, but if you're this upset over the concept of people having faith, do you not wonder why you have this problem? Have you seen a shrink, maybe you have some deep emotional problems that need fixing. Personally, I can't help feeling that you atheists with all these deep seated complexes about the concept of God are a bit off somehow. I can't imagine why God is so frightening to you. I bet you're one of those who complains about Santa Clauss too, huh? Yep, ruining our kids. I'm bettin you have no problem taking off work for Christmas though, do ya? Yeah, didn't think so. We have two crosses on our road, and the families of those people spend a lot of time planting flowers there. It gives them some peace, but people like you don't care about how those people feel, do you? Just do not care about anything but yourself. People like you make me ill, especially when its whining about something that doesn't effect them at all, just whining for attention. Grow up and learn to have some tolerance for other people.

First for the athiest suck guy, this isn't a Christian nation before the theory of god, woman where worshiped because we could bare children.Second i agree with this question but i don't have quite so much hate for Christians, I just don't think the ten commandments has any right displayed on walls in our justice system, or anywhere else but a church or ones home if they choose to display it.

Try this interpretation of the 10 Commandments. Maybe you will find these more useful.

The Earth is our Mother, care for her.
Honor all your relations.
Open your heart and soul to the Great Spirit.
All life is sacred; treat all beings with respect.
Take from the Earth what is needed and nothing more.
Do what needs to be done for the good of all.
Give constant thanks to the Great Spirit for each new day.
Speak the truth; but only of good in others.
Follow the rhythms of nature; rise and retire with the sun.
Enjoy life's journey, but leave no tracks.

Whats the matter, You can't stand to see what you look like on the inside? Because that is what the ten commandments make the unbeliever do. They are forced to see the sins they commit and it makes them shout' Get that off that wall!"

The truth hurts doesn't it.

The 10 Commandment's were given to us by GOD so we could get Blessed, not Holy.
The 10 Commandment's Out-Line the Invisible Spiritual Reap what you Sow Law's.
Go ahead, anybody, and start Breaking those Law's over and over again, and see what kind of a Crop you Harvest.

It's so worthless that it is powerful! Why else does the enemy want its prescence removed. Will it serve as too much of a reminder that God is and that we find peace in serving Him.

i TOTALLY AGREE. DONT PUT THAT BRAIN WASHING MESS ON PUBLIC PLACES, AS IF THE MORE I SEE IT, THE MORE I WILL LOSE MY MENTAL TOLERANCE AND BECOME A MINDLESS CHRISTIAN OR SOMETHING. ITS ALREADY BRAINWASHED AND TURNED MILLIONS OF PEOPLE INTO MINDLESS HUMANS. IF YOU CAN EVEN CALL THEM HUMAN, NOW THAT THEY HAVE LOST THE ABILITY TO THINK FOR THEMSELVES AND NOW SEE EVERYTHING THREW A RELIGIOUS VIEW. YOUR RIGHT.

MAKE WAR ON CHRISTIANITY!!!!
