I went on www.freecreditreport.com and they require you type in a valid credit card number. Is there ever a company that allows you to see your credit report without a need to type in a credit card?

You can get a free report annually from www.annualcreditreport.com This is a report only. You will need to pay for a credit score. The only true credit scores which mortgage companies and credit card companies use are pulled from www.myfico.com Other scores sold on the agency's websites are just estimated scores called fako's.
