It makes them feel better. They pretend to be someone on here because they can not be that in real life. But i think everybody should be themselves.

Unfortunately, it seems as though many folks here take this as a big joke. I have only asked two questions and of the many answers I received, only a small number were serious answers. I guess it all depends why folks log on to this. Are they genuinely interested or just being jerks to pass time?

They lie because they can. They believe that credibility is not important when they think they are anonymous. The internet is also a great place to experiment with behaviour that you would not exhibit in real life. People don't suffer the same consequences.

The people who l lie in here have nothing of real interest to offer and are just that insecure. They have to lie just to feel like they got away with something since there is nothing special about them in reality.

Just like you said I think tons of people lie, just because they can. Their lies have no consequences on Y!A. Know what I mean.

it's the internet.
most people live in fantasy in here.
I try to tell the truth and get nasty emails because I don't pull punches when people ask stupid questions or treat people mean for fun. If I don't want to tell the truth I don't answer the question

Not all people are like that, you know. I am honest, up to the part of giving really personal info-full name,,job,address.
And those people:
a) are scared of giving away personal info
OR
b) their life is so boring, that they need to make stuff up to make it more interesting.

Because people like having the ability to tell people how great they are even if they're scummy. The best part is (to them), they'll never find out.
