I have long misunderstood why the moderate faithful Muslims, who are the majority of the radical terrorists, do not stand up to the radicals who give the while group and bad name. Is it that the terror inflicts even the average Muslim who observes Ramaddan, prays five times a day etc..?

I am Muslim , I fast and Pray. I do not Agree with Radical islam because it is not Islamic!
The Qur'an says killing one person is like killing all of mankind, and saving one person is like saving all of mankind.
There are also rules : No harming of women & children, Cant destroy crops or a mosque, synagogue, temple or church.
I do not want the men responsible for 9/11 representing my religion because that was not ISLAM!

One definition of a moderate Muslim is a Muslim that has never lived in an Islamic country. The other definition of a moderate Muslim are those who don't dare to condemn terrorism for fear of their lives from the radical Muslims.

What is, in your opinion a moderate Christian? A Moderate Jew?

Is Fallwell a moderate Christian? Is Bush? How about Olmert, is he a moderate Jew?

You're a victim of media brain-washing. A moderate anything does not mean that one agrees with another's point of view. If you were a moderate whatever, you would never have asked the question.

If I were a Muslim, then moderate does not mean that I have to agree with a non Muslim's way of life - drinking, pre-marital sex, prostitution, wife abuse, etc. Most "moderate" Americans abuse alcohol, cheat on their wives, do not pray unless someone they love dies and will not hesitate to steal from a place they work for and justifying the action.

The problem is extremely huge. First of all Muslims are divided in to three groups. 1) Typical "radicals" as you called them such as "Taliban," "Saudi government" and Saddam Hussein which unfortunately are supported and placed by huge powers such as USA and Britain. What we like to call puppets. Saddam, Arafat, Bin laden, etc. These leaders while they work perfectly fine with the international key members, at the same time support the wrong fabricated "Islam" and allow Ignorant followers of them to do "anything" in the name of Islam. They actually encourage it and play a role quite "patriotic" toward their country and beliefs.

2) The second group are ignorant "Muslims" who fall under the majority that are uneducated enough to believe such leaders. These people won't realize the problems at all. Most often they stay out of politics yet they support most things internally. The third group are the rare group such as "American Muslims" Who realize the problem, Talk against it "occasionally," organize rallies and such, yet they fail to "speak against themselves and their own beliefs." There are only a hand full of Muslims that have the guts to speak up against their own issues. Such Muslims are not liked/supported by none of the other groups of Muslims! I would be considered one of them!

Moderate Muslims, which are pretty much 99% of Muslims, HAVE condemned terrorism and extremism, over and over, it's just that the mainstream media doesn't want to report it, unfortunately. You see, the mainstream media WANTS you to believe that there is no such thing as a moderate Muslim, or that most Muslims are too cowardly to stand up against terrorism, but that is far from the truth.

Some examples, just from CAIR, the largest Muslim organization in the country...

A petition against terrorism signed by over 690,000
http://www.cair.com/default.asp?page=notislampetition&SubPage=Petition1

Statements against terrorism from leading Muslim scholars and organizations
http://www.cair.com/html/911statements.html

A Fatwa against terrorism
http://www.cair.com/default.asp?Page=articleView&id=1675&theType=NR

A video (public service announcement) against terrorism. It was aired in English, Arabic, and Urdu in various parts of the world, including the Muslim world.
http://www.cair-net.org/video/psa.ram

Also, CAIR took out a full-page add in the NY Times condemning terrorism after 9/11.

Add to that the hundreds of talks, forums, protests, articles and interviews against terrorism by the over 200 chapters of CAIR nationally.

It's frustrating--it's like we're screaming at the top of our lungs but no one wants to listen to us. But when a few freaks do something horrendous, the entire community is blamed for it.

I wonder what more can we do? Is it our fault if not all media choose to cover such activities?

Anyway, hopefully the truth will prevail one day.

May God bless you all.

"Moderate" Muslims are those who ignore the parts of the Koran that call them to kill non-believers. In other words, a moderate Muslim is not a fully commited Muslim. The religion itself, if followed closely, is evil and should be gone.
