hi, i am a young, ambitious girl who is by all standards successful professionally and career wise.My friends look up to me and for some reason people pick me to lead them, they believe in me problem is i don't believe in myself. There was a time when i was very confident, till 2nd year in law school. After an incident where i did something i believed in but others didn't approve, i spent a whole summer vaccation crying, i worried my family very much. i suddenly turned clumsy, confused, depressed.I was second top of my class but i begun to struggle.I could not concentrate.I lost focus, i lost sight of my goals. Now i am doing my second degree and i have completely forgotten what drives me all i am left with is just the interest.People still believe in me...and that worries me even more.Sometimes i feel so down in the dumps the only way out is to go to bed and cry.Killing myself has crossed my mind many times but the thought of my family holds me back. Please please i need your advise.

If you had to live your life over , would you make the same decision? People may not always approve of what you do but you have to be true to yourself. Was this the 1st time that people didn't approve of you?
Please get professional help and do not let this ruin your life. You are evidently brilliant and a great leader. Thats why people want you to lead them. In life you will be faced with other situations where you have to stand up for what you believe in and people wont approve but that is what makes you a leader. It is your ability to see things from a different perspective and make decisions based on facts.
Forget about suicide, speak with a counsellor or a doc. You are evidently depressed and this can seriously affect your mental health. You are brilliant, be yourself, be different. Aint nothing wrong with that.

Do some of the things you know you can accomplish. And, do the small things just for yourself that you know will make you feel better. I like to turn the music up and sing into my hairbrush, not caring what people might think (then again I live alone so you do the math!) and at the end I get such a rush (it might be the depravity of oxygen but it could be because it was such a kick-*** song).
Try to take some time for you. You're worth it. And don't let any body ever tell you any different! :-)

I feel that way sometimes too and seriously working out has done miracles for my self esteem. Exercise helps to release endorphins and as a result it helps to reduce anxiety, helps you sleep better and many other benefits. Eating food high in fiber and protein, drinking lots of water and cutting back on sugar and caffine.
Also, self-talk helps, I used to write down all the positive things about me and read them over and over again until I believed it. People can tell you how great you are but you have to believe it yourself first. Take it one day at a time and remember that you are a human and that we all make mistakes.
Meeting with a therapist weekly can also help a great deal. In between sessions you should have a 'go to' person to talk to when you need a shoulder to cry on. It sounds like you are a pillar for other people in your life but you dont have one for yourself and that's not fair to you.
Take care and good luck!!

hey im only in the 10th grade and i have low self esteem sometimes. But you have to think about all that you have and accomplish and how you came so far to give up. I also make good grades, involved in alot of things, and everyone look up to me but i get depressed over relationship problems. I still cry my self to sleep every now and then, but dont go and sucide because that is not the answer. Just think about all that you have suceeded and try to stay busy and that might help you not think about it. You also my want to hang around more postive people more or talk to someone you trust. Because the more you hold it in, the more your going to cry and want to sucide. So just remember its not the end of the world and everyone makes mistakes and its going to be ok and trust me you will make it threw. I know it might be hard but over time you will relize that you have more to life and you'll be back on track.

Whatever you have done in the past is done and over with. Everybody makes mistakes and that gives us an opportunity to learn and grow. Now you must move on and think about the future. If you are having trouble with this and you need a little help, try counseling

QUIT BEING SO SELF ABSORBED!!!!!
KILLING YOURSELF IS ONLY A PASSIVE-AGRESSIVE WAY TO GET BACK AT SOMEBODY......WHICH NEVER WORKS.
QUIT FOCUSING ON WHAT YOU WANT, YOU NEED, AND WHAT MAKES YOU FEEL COMFORTABLE. IT'S NOT ALL ABOUT YOU YOU YOU. THERE ARE TOO MANY PEOPLE OUT THERE THAT DON'T CARE.
FOCUS ON OTHER PEOPLE. YOU MAY LEARN MUCH ABOUT YOURSELF IF YOU ACCEPT OTHER PEOPLES' PERSPECTIVES. IT'S CALLED EMPATHY. GET SOME.
FROM THE WAY YOU DESCRIBE YOURSELF, YOU HAVE SO MUCH TO OFFER. QUIT HIDING BEHIND ANXIETY AND GET OUT THERE AND START NOTICING OTHER PEOPLES' GOOD QUALITIES, AND TELL THEM.
YOU HAVE THE ABILITY TO INSPIRE OTHERS TO FEEL GOOD ABOUT THEMSELVES, WHICH IS WHAT YOU WANT. GIVE OTHERS WHAT YOU WANT, AND YOU WILL SEE HOW IT COMES BACK TO YOU.
THE ONLY OBSTACLES YOU FACE ARE THE ONES YOU PUT IN YOUR OWN PATH, THEY ARE REALLY CHALLENGES TO OVERCOME THINGS. EACH OBSTACLE IS AN OPPORTUNITY IN DISGUISE, TO CHALLENGE YOURSELF.
DON'T BE A NINNY AND BACK DOWN. OTHERS APPRECIATE YOUR LEADERSHIP SKILLS, SO LEAD. USE YOUR INFLUENCE TO INSPIRE OTHERS TO FEEL GOOD ABOUT THEMSELVES, AND YOU WILL FEEL BETTER ABOUT YOURSELF.
YOU CAN DO THIS!!!!!

It sounds to me like you're suffering from a brain chemistry imbalance. Counseling might help, but also ask your doctor or therapist about anti depressants. They might be the thing to help you get through this until you feel better about yourself and don't need them any more.

See a counselor/therapist plus a psychiatrist (md who can prescribe meds). It's imperative to your mental health that you get help now. Best of luck to you...
