work on your running , push ups and sit ups. you think your in shape untill you get into basic. the PT standards are lower for your age but you will still do more then you think.
run 2 miles is 16 min
pushups 70 in 2 min
sit ups 70 in 2 min
if you can do this you can hack basic

You aren't too old to join at 39. Believe it or not, the Army just had a 41 year old grandma graduate boot camp. I work with a few Marines who are about your age, a 37 year old officer and a 36 year old SNCO and they are both in awesome shape and have no problem keeping up with the younger guys.

Unfortunately, You aren't eligable to join the army no matter what your physical condition is. The cutoff age is 36. Sorry man. If you served in any other branch, you have a shot.

You must have a pretty strange life to want to be in the Army at 39. Do you think you'll go overseas? Just curious, why do you want to volunteer to die? I have nothing against it I'm just curious. Have a great day!
