Ganglions are small bundles of nerve cells that are part of the peripheral nervous system, but not part of the central nervous system (brain and spinal cord).

They can get blocked and will be swollen and painful, maybe that is what they mean by situated, I have not heard it called that.

I believe ganglions are part of the nervous system (I just don't remember exactly what they are).

They are tumors that are close to nerves.
