So you think that abortions are cruel, when all that happens is that a doctor gives a quick death to a possible life. Who knows, the possible life could have a chance of living a miserable life of poverty.

If you think abortion's so bad, how about you ban male masturbation first? Everytime someone does it, it kills MILLIONS of possible lives.

Hey, Mr. "Let's Talk". I'm very ignorant, huh? I said the possible life COULD live in a life of poverty, and usually the chances of that are high, because most women have abortions because of that reason.

And please, do yourself a favor, and stop randomly putting down people, like saying they're ignorant. Then you'll finally realize why you didn't have any friends.

Kimberly Russel, your comment is quite interesting. "If you don't want a child, don't have sex." You know, people don't have sex just for children. People have sex also to "express love".

Hello, "musingaloud"

Abortion does not happen by "taking a gun and killing those who are in poverty". It happens by instantly killing something that's not even born yet, it would be pretty much like killing 1 sperm.

And no, I'm not saying abortions are good and should be used when the possible life can be in poverty.

I believe it's the woman's decision to do whatever is in the woman, unless if it's already born (just as some other person already mentioned).

And currently, it's not possible for a "dead baby" to vote. Wait a minute, did you say "dead" baby? Don't you mean a "baby that's not born yet", or something? You're forgetting about every other single creature that died, if you really mean by "dead baby".

Thanks. I sure did "SMARTEN UP!"

"inteleyes", unfortunately for you, but I don't quite believe in God, so it would be quite hard for me to agree with you. Please answer in a non-religious way.

I'm assuming that you're just wanting our opinions, so here you go:

I agree with you that to get an abortion is the decision of the mother, because it is her body and life that will be most affected by the birth of the baby.

I'm not sure I agree with your comparing getting an abortion to male masturbation, because a sperm that has had no contact with an egg cannot at all be compared to a growing life form.

An abortion in the first trimester, in my opinion, is not so much a big deal. In fact, in the first 3 or so weeks of a pregnancy, a woman can take a simple pill and the baby, or whatever it is, is dead. However, an abortion in later trimesters I find is not only complicated and probably a bit dangerous, but is also closer to murder.

While I am not completely FOR abortions, I believe that is a choice and we should be allowed to make that choice. No one has the right to tell me whether I am or am not allowed to have an abortion.

The possible life, even living in poverty, is better than no life. Personally, no matter what happens to me throughout my life I never seriously wish to die. Therefore I cannot imagine why the possible life of living in poverty should be any reason to have an abortion.

More, I can understand someone having an abortion at 16 years old when they would be no longer allowed to attend school pregnant, something like that where the future life of the 16 year old would be destroyed.

Also, it seems like you are mocking someone in your post who feels abortions are cruel. Why are you doing that? I think if you respected their opinion, perhaps they would more respect your opinion. As I said before, it does not really matter whether a person feels an abortion is cruel or not. The bigger issue, for me, is that no one should be allowed to take the choice of being able to have an abortion away from us.

Look by your OWN reasoning, you are saying it would be okay to take a gun and kill all those who are living in POVERTY!?! Man SMARTEN UP!

There is a CHANCE the child will live in poverty...so kill it?? What a stupid notion.

The 'seed; of the male and the egg of the female are NOT life. They are the building block that when connected, form life immediately.

I have noticed that all the ones who voted FOR abortion are LIVING!!!
Let's have the dead babies vote!

Also, your reasoning that the child MIGHT live in poverty, could be turned around... an abotion might just kill the one who has the know how to cure crippling diseases or deadly diseases. Don't speak so foolishly.

If you want to call RAPE an excuse, I met a 16 yr old who was BRUTALLY raped, beaten nearly to death, who later found out she was pregnant. She told me she KNEW she didn't want the baby...but even a sixteen yr old had enough sense to say, "But I KNOW also it was not the baby's fault in what happened to me. I'll carry it then give it away. It doesn't know what happened." This from a child's mouth.

Here is some advice... if you don't want a baby... CLOSE YOUR LEGS!!!

If you are forced into pregnancy (i.e. rape) GIVE THE BABY AWAY !!! There are over 300 families in the province of Alberta waiting to adopt. Thousands across the Country.

What if that doctor gives a quick death to the child who is supposed to grow up and find the cure for the virus that will kill millions of people thirty years into the future?

What right does a doctor have to kill someone who God decided to send into this world?

A life of poverty isn't that bad, compared to some things. Do you live in poverty? Do you know how it compares to having your body dismembered, your brain sucked out, or being chemically burned to death?

Male sperm cells are not human beings. They aren't able to create another human life unless they fertilize a human female egg cell, so wasting a million of them, more or less, isn't anything like abortion.

Only one sperm cell ever gets to fertilize an egg cell, so most sperm are "wasted" anyway.

The main reason abortion is evil is because no one has the right to take an innocent human life, and life begins at conception.

Other than that, since God thought mankind was important enough to send his son to redeem us, we better think long and hard before we go up against him, especially on such a basic and profound level.

Yes I do. Because it is consider the taking of a life. To take a life is an unwholesome act, and an unwholesome act creates negative karma which one will have to face in this life time or future existences.
Also the life or living being (soul if you like that word) will seek vengence against you in your present life or after. If this aborted soul has taken rebirth as another human being he might turn out to be your murderer or if he is reborn as a spirit ghost, he will haunt you in your dreams or disturb your peace at your death moment appearing as ghost and demon. There are just too many variations of vengence that can take place when the condition is right. Karma and cause and effect is the natural way at play in such situation. Abortion is not just an unwholesome deed, it also cause a whole lots of unseen troubles and afflictions.
Take care.

I'm not a huge fan of abortion because you are, essentially, ending a life, but I think the woman has the sole right to decide what to do with her pregnancy, and I know that women, especially teenagers, can really be put in a difficult position. If you start passing laws regulating this, I think you really get into a grey area. Once the baby is born, it has the rights of all other people, but while it's still in the womb, the mother retains all rights over what to do with it.

You are being judgmental, (miserable life of poverty)-you said, what if that miserable poverty child was a thought of God, and had a plan to save the world.

male masturbation sperm is just sperm, until it's a thought of God.
Then the thought of God, baby spirit would be a redeem baby person when born.
So why send back God,s thoughts.... your telling God we are so weak we can't take care of life, so we kill, murder and send them innocent baby's back, some day if you make it to Heaven, you will see all them baby's grown up praising God, and wondering why is there so many baby's entering the gate.
Jesus loving them as they come through the gate, what would you say to God then.

I dont think abortions are GOOD, but I dont think they are bad either. If you want to know what is bad, it is raising a child in a loveless environment, or raising a child in poverty, or giving a child up for adoption to a person that only adopts because the State pays them money to, and all the while the child is treated like crap. THAT'S BAD.

Abortion as birthcontrol is bad. Abortion to save the life of a mother? To rid one self of an unwanted pregnancy due to rape/incest? Perhaps the condom broke and you were on BC, but both failed? Then thats okay.

i don't think abortions r bad. it's better 2 have an abortion than 2 have a kid suffering physical/sexual abuse by its parents or being turned over 2 an orphanage where it won't grow up with the love and support of a family. but if ur ready 2 have a baby, then go 4 it. i like abortions mostly 4 young girls who were raped and don't even know how 2 take care of a baby. idk how many abortions happen a year but i do know 1 thing: a baby is born every minute everyday in the world. who knows how that baby will b brought up? i do hope it'll b brought up with kindness, love, care, support, etc.

Personally, I think abortion can be completely avoided if a couple adheres to safe and intelligent birth control methods while having sex. Abortion is unfortunate, but is the best alternative to an unwanted pregnancy. And anyway, wealthy Americans will always be able to have the procedure, it's only the poor who will not be able to have them if they become banned.

There are many references to "infant" (and other synonyms) in the english translations of the Bible. These are derived from the original Greek word, "brethos", which can refer to any young person - as young as still in the womb. God says that we know him through the holy scriptures since "brethos" (see source for 2 Timothy 3:15).

You can try to justify this murder just as we often try to justify our sins. In the end, Jesus Christ will be the judge.
