It's about a Sunday school teacher at a church she belonged to for 54 years, who had been teaching at this church for 11 years, and she was just fired this week by the new pastor, because she's a woman. Her termination letter said:
"A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent. For Adam was formed first, then Eve. And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became sinner."
Sh*t like this infuriates me. This brainwashed idiot 'pastor' should not be in a position to affect other peoples' lives. He should not be a part of society. I'd sooner see a reformed murderer walking the streets than someone as evil and pernicious as this.
So, to answer the question, when a book can inspire such indecency against an entire sex in general and one poor woman in particular, it is absolutely anti-woman. And it's repuslive.

It is not. it was twisted into that form by men like king james, and continues to be twisted by insecure peasant men all over the world. (they need to feel like they own another person) The Bible does make it clear that men are the heads of household, but it also commands that men treat their wives honorably. There are men who attempt to use eve's sin of eating forbidden fruit as a way to gain power over women. this leaves out several important points.
-adam neglected to help his wife resist the serpent
-he also ate the fruit, thus disobeying a direct order he recived from God
-he neglected to inform his wife of God's orders in the first place.
thus we have the first failure not only of humans in general, but the first failure of a man to be a man.
eve: here have some of this forbidden fruit
adam: duhhh...ok
ive included a link to a site that i like to use. its good for referencing different versions of the Bible to each other.

Well I tend to think the same way, but it can be chalked up to the times. In Bible times women were second-class and were supposed to sub servant to the men and were not educated or taken seriously in the community as learned and scholared individuals.

Yes. For example, if you look at the Ten Commandments, you'll see women listed right along with other property like oxen when listing possessions of men one shouldn't covet.
The link lists lots of offenses to women in the Bible:

The old testament is filled with old semetic traditions concerning women..not defferent to Arabic traditions.
The New testament is somewhat different.

I think your opinion is yes but let me tell you mine: no. It only assigns separate tasks for each sex. Ever read proverbs where it says we should treat women as a fragile glass? I don't believe that's anti-women.

Nope, Christ was a champion for women. He spoke with and had friendships with women in so many ways that were considered taboo in that time and culture.
And He's considered our cheif exemplar.
