To clarify for you... j'ai fait du rafting is like saying in English I went rafting. Je suis alle is literally saying "I went...". They are both correct; just choose one. As a French teacher in an American high school I would expect my students to say j'ai fait because that is in the texts of most schools.

Ash and Melanie got it right, except that it's not "dans" but "en".

"dans" means more "inside".
