First things first. Don't start replacing parts, because I just heard. Cause it gets expensive after a while. First off do you have high mileage, over 120,000 miles. Does adjusting the throttle work ? Look for a vacuum leak, a common problem. Have your emissions checked, The odometer is the little thing in the speedometer that you zero out when you want to know the total miles driven for fuel mileage test or point to point miles reading. Are you sure you don't mean the tac., it reads RPM. Do yourself a favor and get your car to a good mechanic, not just to a Nissan dealer. And don't tell them what you think is wrong. Just tell then what the car is doing and let them find out what the problem is and they will tell you what's at fault.

It seems we all have had that problem with some cars. I had that happen to me, with my old Chrysler LeBaron. They couldn't find the problem, and some friend, suggested I change my gas station. I did, and the problem, was solved.
Maybe the mixture was too rich or too poor, who knows, some anti-knocking fuel mixture.
Try another brand of gas, see if that solves your problem. It could be many things, blocked filter, gas pump etc. Try the easy fixes first, before shelling out good money to a dealer.
Good luck, I know what a pain stalling can be.

I suspect you ment Tachometer.Look closely at battery ground at body battery and engine. Next there is a gray connectior on the passenger side of the intake manifold with eight very important wires that get moisture in the connector clean with penetrant oil spray and blow out . No check engine light?

I had the same problem in my 92 Nissan sentra SER and it was my timing chain... I had it fixed at the Nissan Dealership in Sedalia,MO and a week later my engine blew... they put my timing chain on wrong (don't go there)... if it is your timing chain make sure they do it right.... keep your receipt and if it starts acting funny after they fix it take it back asap.....

One thing to keep in mind with "cel" or "check engine lights" - is this - they only indicate that there is a problem in a particular "circuit". if for instance - you take the car to Autozone and have them diagnose the cel with the scantool and it comes back as" map sensor error". Then it merely indicates a problem in the map sensor circuit. It in no way means that the map sensor is absolutely the problem - only that the problem is in the map sensor circuit. You will still have to diagnose the circuit itself as to whether the sensor is bad - there is a bad wire in the circuit - there is a bad resistor inside the "ecu - engine control unit" . its not as simple as just changing the map sensor - and thats why your dealer gets his $80 - $100 an hour rate - for the proper diagnosis. Not simply replacing a part and hoping!!! That its the right guess.
