Does anyone know if the 2003 Ford Ranger had a recall on airbags not properly working? Or, has anyone had a problem with their airbags in a 2003 Ford Ranger?

No recalls for airbags not working properly (actually I don't remember any recalls for 03 rangers)

Why are you saying it's not working right..need details

I just looked on Edmunds.com for recalls and there is not one. I have an '03 Ranger also and I keep on top of those. There have been only 2 and they deal with aftermarket head lamps, there are 62 TSB's or technical service bulletins which are a note that is shared to remedy an issue that has come up during service at a ford dealer. Most dealers act as if they have never heard of them..If you have an issue and a number you will pay for the repair at their shop but you can also ask for the TSB and they will usually give you a copy if it. Be informed

I don't recall any recalls on Rangers for that, The best way to find out is to call or go by a Ford dealer and have them to check. If you are just having a air bag light on have them to check it for the problems and give an estimate.

It's best to check with the dealer but it's also important to remember that some automobile parts and/or systems have warranty by LAW that goes beyond the base warranty. Depending on the system and the year/miles on the chassis you may still have coverage of the air bag system. If there's a problem, you need to get it checked out anyway, warranty or not, since this is a dangerous thing to have not working.

The airbag is triggered by a device called an "accelerometer". It measures 'G' forces. 1G in any direction is the equivalent of your weight pushing down due to gravity. If you weigh 180lb and you stop with a force of 1G, you will be thrown forward with a force of 180lb (your body's inertia still traveling forward......) I think most airbags are set to trigger at around 4 or 5 G's in the forward direction. Running into a solid barrier at under 10mph will not trigger it because the bumper and structure of the car bend to absorb the impact sufficiently at that low speed. Somewhere around 15-18mph into a solid barrier will usually be just enough to set off the airbag.
