Assuming that "hay rides around the island" refers to the tractor being physically *ON* the island, there are still several possibilities.
In descending order of likelihood...
1. Tractor was driven or trailered across the frozen lake in winter
2. Tractor was driven or trailered across the dry lake bed during a drought or engineered dredging (or similar).
3. The lake is only a foot or so deep, allowing the tractor to have been driven or trailered THROUGH the lake water
4. Tractor was catapulted from lakeshore to island (rather than "transported" by airlift)
5. Tractor was driven or trailered through a tunnel under the lake
6. Telekinesis
7. Alien teleportation device
8. Tractor evolved from inanimate materials in the same manner that evolutionists claim humans did

The tractor goes around the Island, in other words it's on the mainland and I am an idiot for asking about it being on the island.

The lake is a man made reservoir created by the damming of a river. Thus. . . the tractor got to what is now the island before the lake was created eh?

Two answers:
1. The tractor and wagon give hay rides AROUND the lake, not necassarily ON it.
2. When the water freezes, they drive over?
I like the 1st one more...
Now, here's a riddle that I'll give someone a gazillion points if they can make sense out of it. It's an impossible scenario:
"I wish that my wish doesn't come true."
