Unless you have the special equipment don't try to clean them yourself. Hard to say if you should get them cleaned ... if the car is running well, why clean them? Do you know a mechanic who can advise you? Seems like a small amount to pay if you think they need to be cleaned.

You do not have to only put plus gasoline. Regular works fine. You should use the gas that your engine requires. If you use anything different its not good and If doesnt clean your injectors either because reg. prem. and super all have the same detergents. The ONLY different between the fuels it the OCTANE number. The higher the octane number is the SLOWER the gas ignites. Super actually takes really long to ignite. Now Lucus is the BEST fuel injector cleaner there is. It costs about 8-10 dollars. And make sure you are on empty, then put the Lucus fuel injector cleaner in and then fill up your tank with your required gasoline.

I had this done a few months ago on my 1996 Nissan Sentra. I went to Red Carpet Car Wash and they did it for $40. The reason why I had it done was because my car kept dying when I'd turn on the A/C. So, they cleaned out the fuel injectors and all this black smoke came out of the exhaust. My car still stalled for the remainder of the day, but the next day it was as good as new! I also cleaned out my Idle Control Valve and made my car run even better!

So I would recommend getting your fuel injectors cleaned and perhaps the idle control valve. Worked for me!

To clean injectors takes specialist equipment and should be done by a professional. I would advise against using any additive that you put in the tank, because it just blocks up your fuel filter and injectors with the dirt that is in the fuel system. Cleaning the injectors is a good idea, it stops dirt wearing out the injectors which will improve performance and fuel efficiency.

They make good cleaners you can run in with your gas. The cheap $2-$3 stuff doesn't seem to help, but the better quality ones, and a road trip of at least 30 miles seems to do pretty good.

Have to wonder what they could possibly do for $20 that would help. A mechanic friend will hook up to the injectors and clean them, takes approx 3 hours and even with self employed, it is still $80!!!!

You got several options. It's kinda easy. You'll get, what you pay for.

Cheapest.- the one you just put in your tank and let is do the job by it self. takes longer but works

The other option.- High pressure tank injector cleaner. more expensive but the best option. this one usually you can't do this your self unless you have a special tool.

let me know what you think @yahoo.com
