If you booked with:

Travelocity
Orbitz
Expedia
Cheap Tickets
Hotels.com

You WILL NOT have a refund. Some of the above sites offer travel insurance but it doesn't cover everything, and those sites are sneaky at times and put the "Would you like travel insurance?" in small letters were it can't be seen (except Orbitz which is pretty good).

If you had no travel insurance, you have lost everything. It also depends on how long ago it was booked. If you booked directly from an airilne site, and then a hotel site and/or car rental site, call them and they should be able to help you with your questions. But if it was through the sites I listed above (and other flight + hotel + car sites) you will not get much of a refund because you booked through a "third party" and the airlines and hotels and some car rental agencies don't look at that as direct booking. It's more like that website booking for you.

If it was a travel agency, call them and ask them about the details.

Remember . . . CALL the booking site, airline, or wherever you booked and ASK THEM! They will know best :-)

Hope this helps
Good Luck

It all depends on the class of fare you bought and where you bought it. Class of fare doesn't mean first class or coach, it means refundable, transferable, non-refundable, etc. And there's varying levels of refundable... most tickets that you buy directly from the airline are non-refundable but can be cancelled for partial credit, meaning, you don't get your money back but you can apply the ticket price you paid to another flight, minus a change fee (usually $100). Most tickets bought through a reseller are more restricted than this--- you can't even change the date of travel. Check with the airline directly.

Bottom line is you will almost definitely not get your cash money back; you'd have to buy a completely refundable, unrestricted ticket which is usually 2 or 3 times the cost of a regular ticket. But you have a good chance of getting some of the purchase price applied to a future trip.

In theory it depends how many days notice you give. Look at the Booking Conditions in the brochure.

I dont think you will succeed in getting your money back except perhaps if you took out insurance and the insurer covers you.

Its worth writing a sob story at least.

If you can show that the plane seat was filled by another client and the accommodation was used by another client ( which I know you cant) you would have a good argument.

In the UK you will lose it unless you can flog em to someone that will pay for amendments to the tickets - but you cant do that too late either. You might be able to claim on insurance but I think thats pretty ropey over what you are covered for.

I think it depends on the circumstances as to why you can't go. Did you have insurance. You may get some back

Hopefully you purchased cancellation insurance, then depending on why you can't go you should get your $$ back. If not, then yeah, you're probably screwed. Sorry.

It depends on the contract you signed. If there is a no refund clause, you get nothing.

That's why you should get travel insurance.
