OK, Mormons say that they are no longer polygamist and they are offended if you call them one, I live in Utah so I know. However, I have studied the Mormon church for 10 years now and have dated Mormons and had many Mormon friends and I know that they still believe in polygamy because they believe that when they die, men can have several wives in heaven. Example: My friends parents got a divorce and her father got remarried. Her father believes that he will be married to his new wife and his previous wife in heaven. However, females only get one husband. Anyways... Can they proclaim that they are not polygamist when they believe they will live eternally in heaven as polygamists? Give me your opinion? Mormons too.

know that I am not mistaken about the mormon belief of polygamy in heaven. I am aware that in a temple marriage it is for now and all eternity and that you become seeled to that one person. However, I do know that if you get seeled in the temple and then divorce and get remarried in the temple mormons believe that the man will be married to both wives. I know this because I have an uncle who proclaims this as well as my sister-in-law's father and 3 of my friends parents. I guess it's possible that mormons outside of Utah could believe what you say because I've heard that Mormons outside of Utah aren't crazy like the ones in Utah living in their bubble. I've learned what I know from a lot of devout Mormons. Also, there is a website called Feminist Mormon Housewives.com and they talk on this subject a lot! They ask questions about being married to the same man up in heaven.

I don't believe that the hardcore mormons don't believe in polygamy anymore...it's just something the church agreed to accept in order to gain statehood (and to keep from being persecuted).
Personally, I think polygamy should be legal...both for women and for men.
The one problem that always tends to accompany polygamy is young girls being forced to marry against their will. A lot of mormon men in those "undercover polygamy" conclaves in Utah force their 15 year old daughters to marry the father's 45 year old friend...and then the friend forces HIS 15 year old daughter to marry the first guy in return.
Otherwise, I'd have no problem with it. Let people marry as many folks as they can stand...

You are a little bit mixed up there. If your friend's parents got divorced, and had their temple marriage disolved, they will no longer be sealed together according to the Mormon church. If a man's wife dies and then he remarries in the temple and is sealed to his new wife then yes, as far as Mormon beliefs go, he will be sealed to both women therefore, living as a Polygamist in heaven. I was raised Mormon and am no longer a member of the LDS church. They have some very odd beliefs and I refused to raise my children the way I was raised. I also live in Utah. I could rant and rave about all kinds of Mormon beliefs, but there is only so much room on here...ha ha!!!

Does Islam promote polygamy?

No, polygamy in Islam is a permission not an injunction. Historically, all the prophets except Jesus, who was not married, had more than one wife. For Muslim men to have more than one wife is a permission which is given to them in the Quran, not to satisfy lust, but for the welfare of the widows and the orphans of the wars. In the pre-Islamic period, men used to have many wives. One person had 11 wives and when he became Muslim, he asked the Prophet Muhammad (P), "What should I do with so many wives?" and he said, "Divorce all except the four." The Quran says, "you can marry 2 or 3 and up to 4 women if you can be equally just with each of them" (4:3). Since it is very difficult to be equally just with all wives, in practice, most of the Muslim men do not have more than one wife. Prophet Muhammad (P) himself from age 24 to 50 was married to only one woman, Khadija. In the western society, some men who have one wife have many extramarital affairs. Thus, a survey was published in "U.S.A. Today" (April 4, 1988 Section D) which asked 4,700 mistresses what they would like their status to be. They said that "they preferred being a second wife rather than the 'other woman' because they did not have the legal rights, nor did they have the financial equality of the legally married wives, and it appeared that they were being used by these men."

Well I'm a convert to the LDS faith and I married a guy who has been LDS his entire life. I asked him about that and his answer was much like any other answer when it comes to heaven.... we don't know what will happen when we get there. But this made sense to me too... when we are in Heaven, we are perfect. When we are perfect, we will not have any anger, no prejudice, etc... because we will only then fully understand everything!
Do I agree with polygamy and does the church condone it here on earth? No. That is all that should matter to you.

**Polygamist or not? What do you think? ***

Yes, polygamist all.

Judeo-Christian-Islamic holy books are all polygamous.
There is no denial, at least not from their holy books. So the fact that the Mormon do it also does not surprise me. Men have always wanted as many women as they could have.
The early so-called logic in this is that with one man and multiple women, paternity is readily
established. Paternity is not easily determined with one woman and multiple men.
They even attempt to transport these sentiments to heaven with them. Go figure that.
There are indeed folk that anticipate fornication
in heaven.

Mark 12:25
When the dead rise, they will neither marry nor be given in marriage; they will be like the angels in heaven.

Why should that matter? I mean, what difference does it make in the here and now? Further, if they are wrong about heaven and the guys becoming God in their own world, what difference does that make? They will discover that when they die.

As far as polygamy in this world, I say as long as everyone knows about it and enters into it knowingly, and is of legal age, why not?

If three or more people want to be married to each other, let them be. Does not cost me a cent.

And polyandry is fine, too. If a lady wants to have two or more consensual husbands, fine.

Let us get religion and government out of people's bedrooms, please!

It's a self serving male oriented philosophy in my opinion. That does not mean I do not think it should be legal. If all parties are willing and of age I say let them do what they want. I just wish people would not try to turn their sexual desires into a God issue.

If you study the Old Testament much of it was about the males mating rights, i.e. polygamy, executions for infidelity and rape (more so for the women), genocide for all enemies except the virgin women captives who were forced to marry the men who murdered their whole families, villages, & cultures.

As an ex-Mormon, I think you are mistaken about what they believe. Mormons get married in the temple and are there "sealed" for all eternity. They believe that they will be in the celestial kingdom with that one spouse they were sealed to, not with anyone else. They do have proxy marriages, but that is in place of a dead person so that theoretically that dead person can enjoy being in the celestial kingdom with his/her spouse. But that is just for someone else's "benefit".

There are areas out there where they have to kick the teenage sons out of town so they don't drain the new crop of wives ranging from 12 to 18. This was on 48Hrs.

If they have the scripture to back them up ...like other scriptosexuals for example Christians and Muslims who arrange their sexuality to suit ancient books written by nobody knows whom.
