when they are outside. I think it is a stupid rule. What do you think?

Well look at it this way-If you let your cat run loose-Like a dog then animal control can pick them up legally.
I think its a fair rule-I had a neighbor ask that I keep my dog tied up (he got loose one night) cause their cat had scratches on her face. Well how is it fair to ask me that and he lets his cat run loose. I know dogs can be more viscious but it only seems fair. Just go along with the rule-I think its kinda cute to see a cat on a leash. good luck

This may not be a popular answer but it's actually a good rule for a number of reasons. The most important of which is that it keeps your cats safe. Another is that it helps keep the stray cat population down - especially in an apartment complex environment. There are a lot of people who let unaltered cats roam outside to impregnate others or get pregnant themselves. These unwanted kitties have a tendancy to wind up dumped in the complex later.

I have three "indoor" cats in my condo and though I know that keeping them inside is best, I couldn't help feeling bad that they couldn't lay in the grass or enjoy the fresh air and sunshine of a beautiful day while cooped up.

My solution is that I bought 3 harnesses and leashes for them. It takes a little while for them to get used to the idea but then they LOVE IT! When I pick up their leashes, they all come running like little pups! I take them for individual walks and they get to play in the grass and soak up some rays on a nice day.

My neighbors thought it was funny at first but now they think it's great and even come out to greet my little ones.

Oh, and just one more thing: ALWAYS have stretchy safety collars and ID on your cats! You never know when the unexpected might happen. Harnesses are MUCH safer than a leash alone (I would never just use a leash) but there's always a risk involved. Cats can be wiggly little contortionists when they want to be and you never know when they might get spooked.

What's "stupid" about it? Seems like a good idea to me. Your cat is protected if on a leash. Other cats are protected if your cat has anything contagious. People in the complex are not bothered if they don't happen to like having cats handing around.

not necessarily a stupid rule. It is a good rule I think to protect cats. My cats are kept inside, I have no choice. Besides, so many people think that cats are miserable inside, not true. Cats wandering outside can be hit by cars, they get into fights, mate and make more unwanted kittens. They upset neighbors who have gardens as they use the gardens as litter boxes. Listen, I have lost many cats when I used to let them out, they all got hit by cars! One cat that I had kept inside lived til she was 20!

i think it is a good rule, my cat was on a leash any time we went outside and he loved it we went for walks just like a dog and i had him around for 18 great years and did not have to worry about him getting hit or something getting him,,,, if you love him count your blessings you dont have the worries of him running around and getting hurt.....

Albeit a stupid rule, you have to follow it or you could lose your cat or apartment.
Ride it out until your lease ends, and move to another place.

I think that it's a GREAT idea!!!! but, I think that you're stupid for thinking that it's stupid. they won't run off and get in any danger that way. some people don't want your cat on their property. if you loved your cat than you would agree with this rule!!!

some people don't like any animals. some of these sick people will kill animals. anyway, put your cat on a leash, he will get use to it. we had a rabbit we use to walk around our front yard (no fence) and he got use to it.
