Many thought the same thing about Jesus and his followers. They called them liars and blasphemers and tried to kill God's Son and they finally succeeded in their quest. It is called persecution and we know that we must endure peoples hatred of us because we preach the good news about God's Kingdom and people do not want to hear about it or about the blessings it will bring to the earth and when they turn away from listening to the Kingdom message, who are they really avoiding? Just like faithful Noah, we are trying to save as many lives as we can in these last days before God's war is waged against all who oppose him and his Kingdom. Do you know what God's Kingdom really is? It is a real government with Jesus ruling as King. It will soon put and end to all human governments, which have failed miserably in their attempt to rule. (Daniel 2:44) Ask your partners Mom to explain more about all the wonderful things our new heavenly government will soon do and how you can benefit from it. Just like Jesus cared for people, so we care for you also.

I am one of Jehovah's Witnesses and I would like to say that I truly enjoy my religion. I love knowing the truth, and being able to know why we are suffering, when Jehovah will bring his kingdom ruled by his son Jesus Christ and being protected from so many things that worldly people experience. If everyone just gave us a chance, really listened, and reasoned, they'd see that we aren't a sect, or obsessed. We simply do the work Jesus Christ told us to do to save peoples lives. Mathew 24:14: "And this good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations; and then the end will come."
we don't have the highest suicide rate, and the reason we don't celebrate holidays is because none of them have bible base, and they all derived of pagan religions.
Birthdays, for example, don't have any bible basis. The only 2 accounts in which birthdays are mentioned, (pharaoh of egypt, and herod the great) people were murdered. Hence, they are not part of our celebrations. We lead normal lives, and we're genuinely happy.

Interestingly, such "hatred" should be expected by true Christians in this time of the end, and it actually helps identify Jehovah's Witnesses as Christ's true disciples:
(John 15:19) If you were part of the world, the world would be fond of what is its own. Now because you are no part of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, on this account the world hates you.
(Luke 6:22) Happy are you whenever men hate you, and whenever they exclude you and reproach you and cast out your name as wicked for the sake of the Son of man.
(1 Peter 4:4) Because you do not continue running with them in this course to the same low sink of debauchery, they are puzzled and go on speaking abusively of you.
(2 Timothy 4:3-5) For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching, but, in accord with their own desires, they will accumulate teachers for themselves to have their ears tickled; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, whereas they will be turned aside to false stories. You, though, keep your senses in all things, suffer evil, do the work of an evangelizer, fully accomplish your ministry.
It seems signficant that the relatively small religion of Jehovah's Witnesses are the ones best known for their worldwide preaching work. Yet Jesus commanded that ALL who would call themselves "Christian" perform this public work:
(Matthew 28:19,20) Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded you. And, look! I am with you all the days until the conclusion of the system of things.

My former Mother In Law is Jahovahs Witness. It is a bit strange, but I found it had a lot of good points. They don't celebrate Holidays and such because everyday is a mothers day, fathers day and a day to rejoice in a birthday. Christmas is not celebrated as they don't beleive Jesus has come yet. The best way to handle it is just to say I respect your religion as I hope you can mine. If you wish to give her a gift say around Christmas you can give it to her at New Years and say it is a New Years gift. I hope this helps.

I think they have a lot of good ideas. One thing that empresses me is the fact if they don't believe it is right they don't do it.
Most religions agree that people shouldn't do that but they do it anyway. I think that is being a hyprocrite.
If you can see that something is of pagan orgin you shouldn't do it. They really believe that Jesus is going to rule the world and leave it up to him to do that. Others have said, Jesus is going to rule the world but I'm going to help him because I know he can't do it without my help. Do you really believe he can do it or not?

I don't understand the appeal of this religion. They don't believe in celebrating anything that might draw their followers away from their message (ex. birthdays). They also have (I believe) the highest suicide rate among various religions. What does that say about them?

It is a very different and strange religion. I don't know how it attracts members. And I believe your religion is your own business.

religion is a myth translated in different version and languages to suit everebody needs and purposes......thats is why there is conflicts but none has left trace we can recover as evidence ...you can see the sky its shape look at the stars....you don't need to get into astronomy... you can see the prints and traces of dinosaurs...you don't need to be archeologist or paleonthologist but you need stories to understand religions......
