Texas has a web site that gives all the addresses and pictures of sex offenders in your town. California also has the Megan's law web site. There are so many all around my college.

Scares the crap out of me. We moved into an area that has very little of the sickos. We checked beforehand. But that really means nothing since they can move in at anytime and they have laws protecting (!) them from harassment. Which is total crap! They all need to be rounded up, castrated, and used as prison playthings, especially the ones with offenses against children. But that's just my opinion.

Yes, it is a very scarey, serious thing. What can we do to protect our young people , children and women ? Good Lord, what is happening ? In our old neighborhood alone there are four. I worry all the time about the little children. Our laws need to sterilize the offender, take away the sex urge , drive and make sure they do not consider sex, with anything living. Make these people an IT . Not only men do this there are many women too. So it is not just Men.

Most states have that website, I live in wisconsin. The East Side of milwaukee is loaded with them. I live on the south side and a sex offender lived in the apartment above me. I never had a problem with this particular man, he might have done something wrong (5 years prior) but he was actually really nice. Depends on the person, but the thought at first of living in the same building with a sex offender scared me, but people change their mindsets.

Damn, how many sex offenders are in your neighborhood?!? You probably see 50 people in a population of 5,000. Some sexual offenses aren't as bad as others.

I'm not scared because there's only a few. And don't forget there's sex offenders out there that haven't been caught yet -- there's also some registered sex offenders that will never offend another child sexually. Just talking statistics.

I don't mean to sound nice to sex offenders, but it sounds like somebody has to talk you down, from the fear.

Yes and most of them don't have jobs because who hires a sex offender! Some of them aren't doing productive things, so they continue to offend. Pretty sad!

Yes, it scares me too but this country isn't ready to put potential and victims of sex offenders first. We give them parole, probation....never make them serve very much time...ever. Sad to say but if sex offenders raped affluent people much more frequently (Senators families, movie stars families, millionaires, etc) then we'd see a sharp decline!

I checked our state sex offender registry out of curiosity, and I was absolutely floored! I can't believe how many of them there are, and this is not a big city!

Of course it does. I live in Pennsylvania, in Philly to be precise and we have TONS of them. More than anyone can imagine.
I say, there's not much we can do but be warned by the site of where the offenders are and what they look like.

Yes it does. I think we should KNOW exactly where they are. Then put posters on your yard saying, "I live by a sex offender." That way everyone can be sure to WATCH their children.

It absolutely terrifies me. These people are right in the community and your children are not safe. I did not know there were so many around until I checked the Indiana website last year. They are everywhere.
