I recently reinstalled Windows XP on my computer and how sweet it is. After years of use and abuse, I had stray registry key and programs which refused to be uninstalled. After reinstalling Windows, my computer works much better. It doesn't feel bloated. First, take a look at your Windows XP installation CD. Many computer vendors include a recovery CD and not the entire Windows XP installaton CD. It is not a big problem. But, before you reinstall, you need to make some preparations. First, save all the files you want to keep on to removeable media (e.g. external hard drive, DVD or CD). Second, make sure you collect all the license/ product keys for your software. The most important is your Windows XP product key. If you can't find it then you can use a small program called "Magic Jelly Bean Keyfinder," which will search the registry and display the product key. Third, backup all your device drivers. Fourth, expect to lose all your security patches from Microsoft. After you have successful reinstalled Windows XP, install the device drivers. As a precaution, install a firewall or use Windows firewall before connecting to the Internet. Download all the patches. Next, you can restore your files then software programs.

As for me, after reinstalling Windows, it behaved much much better.

Not really even though the performance increases, once u use a computer you really cant make it go as smooth as if it is new. It is because quality of a computer degrates through use (wear and tear) and time. Maintenance is what makes a computer run fast (reinstalling the OS will help speed up your PC and remove any infections but will not make it as good as new though). Even though the performance will increase it will not be as good as new.

Yes, reinstalling windows will make your computer run about the speed, as if it was brand new. Older PC modles come with reinstallation disks to reinstall windows, and newer PCs come with recovery disks. Both of these will help you to reformat your hard drive and wipe evrything out.

Sure you may think that. But there are better ways to get your pc back to new. first there is the classic surround it in wood and paper and light the paper on fire. The next way is too take a sledge hammer and bash it to bits. The next thing is too take a regular hammer and pretend it is an ex and bash it till it is dust. the next one is my personal favorite call the fbi and have them blow it with their high explosives. the next thing is my favorite get your pc and take it to the nearest railroad tracks and let a train take care of your pc. The next thing is take it to a junkyard and let their magnet take care of it. Or you can take it to where they are tunneling and let them drill it to death. And finally the best one launch it into space. To another planet the sun is the best place. Jupiter is another good place. If all else fails fly to Hawaii and dump it inside the volcano. In retrospect trash your pc and get a new one. So make a choice and follow through with it and have a blast doing it. Dont forget to get your new pc.

No, but if you had any spyware/malware that was planted in your system folder, it'll be gone. Things should go a little faster, as well.
