I've seen this question twice now on here and it REALLY is beginning to scare me only because I travel the roads daily to and from work and see some REALLY stupid stuff......now I know why. Here's the question, "Does anyone know where I can download or get a program to learn how to drive?" WTF.....now I know why I'm almost killed on the roads daily....our youth are learning by simulation. Anyone here a little perturbed by this? Or is it just me?

Driving is a practices skill. You can't learn to drive outside of a car. Its all about experiance, which is why raising the driving age to 18 would be stupid.

Nope. No such thing as a perfect driver, and I think people who want to do theory based learning on driving should be congratulated. It may be that they are after a book that explains road rules etc. Whilst learning to drive is a lot of practical training, it also involves theory as well

that isnt the problem. The problem is inattentiveness, and the fact that people arent taught properly (not the teaching aide, but people not correcting their mistakes) in the first place. Theres a reason about 90% of drivers dont know how to use their mirrors when backing up, or that changing lanes in an intesection is illegal, or that you shouldnt drive in the left lane on highways unless passing, or that you shouldnt drive in peoples blind spots.

more than anything though its unattentiveness.

I am sure there are better solutions, but to be honest I dont think anyone can drive anymore. It seems like everyone is holding a starbucks while chatting on the phone and emailing someone on a blackberry about the fact that they are in a car and drunk!

This has been a common practice for at least the past 10 years. It's really no different than taking driver's ed. You still have to pass the written, and driving exam at the DPS.

I learned the old way. Get in the car with the instructor. I'm not familiar with the simulation method, so I don't feel qualified to say that method isn't as good, but yeah, it makes me nervous.

Yes, but that doesn't explain the 35 somethings chatting away on their cell phones and swerving in and out of lanes. God, I hate people who can't drive!

Doesn't bother since I know any idiot can get a license. It least they are trying to learn.
