Perhaps it's better to encourage people NOT to vote, unless they're willing to educate themselves.

Uninformed........

the question was just to say that we need to all be informed and to take the whole process seriously. I believe all should take their right to vote seriously.

That is the scary thing about democrats, they get the puppets to vote for anything as long as it is a handout or someone that will give a handout. And all it takes is their talking points to get the dumb and dumber crowd to the polls.

People should always have the option and be made aware of their democratic rights if you believe in we should live in a democracy. So perhaps some encouragement helps to maintain a free society.

However I do think it is very unfair that people are criticised for not voting. It is the rational and fair thing to do if you do not believe you have enough knowledge (even about what is best for yourself) to make an informed choice.

Even if you are sure you know who you want to win if you attach any cost to walking to the ballot station then voting is probably theoretically irrational. The probability that your vote will be the deciding one (i.e. it turns out to be 5000 vs. 5000 or whatever) is very small even in local elections. Therefore it is not worth wasting your time.

For all those people that say "well what if everyone did that?" - Well everyone doesn't and it's reasonable to assume they never will so it's still a rational strategy under some pretty sound assumptions.

Uniformed people? like soldiers, and sailors, and marines, and police, and fire fighters? I think it's a great idea to encourage them to vote, because should something go wrong in the world, they're the most likely ones to have to do something about it.

...Oh. Did you mean UNINFORMED people? Well, frankly, I think the government encourages people to not be informed because it allows the politicians to do whatever they want more easily. Democrats try to use "hand outs." Republicans try to use "God," and "Tax breaks." People in power generally want more power. But trying to get stupid people to stop voting would really screw things up, because when less than half the people vote at all, it's that much easier to fix the elections.

We should encourage the uninformed to vote so we can elect more great leaders like George Bush!

Better yet, if someone disagrees with me, they are either uninformed or stupid. Either way they shouldn't vote. So we can save a lot of time and money by just letting me decide who should be elected.

You do not get to decide. Which is good for America. How many ignorant un educated, un informed people would vote for Bush again if they could?
BTW, speaking of handouts, Bush just sent $400 million to Lebanon to fix up what Israel tore up, plus 25,000 bushels of wheat, we already send Israel $2 billion per month.
Another handout the TSA provides free security to the Airlines, the Airlines collect a fee for a service that is supposed to include a safe flight. Why do we tax payers support these Liberals?

Are we not all uninformed? The shear numbers of people showing up and voting, I believe would make corruption a bit more risky. This might be a good thing. Please don't sale us all out. I read and study all issues and candidates but, all the information is not public. So how do you suggest we vote?
