I am getting married on May 12, 2007, in Laguna Beach California. I asked the city how much it was to have a ceremony on the beach or in the park and they said $185. I have known others who just set up, get married and leave without paying the money. Should I risk it or is $185 not worth the risk.

I am on a tight budget and any where I can cut corners I am willing to try, but I am not sure with this one.

$185 is really not worth it. Dont allow anything or anyone to ruin your big day. Pay the money and be safe!

If it is 185, then you pay the money. It is only right to do so. Especially if you want your day to curv some disaster issue's too lol. Even if you set up, married and leave, you still can be fined and billed. Luckly, those people got very lucky. You might not be.

Can you send me the information of the place and company that you are going through, if so. I am planning a California beach wedding and Laguna did cross my mind on it.

I would appreciate it too.

If you are from the area, or have a friend in law enforcement who can do it for you, make a quick call to the local police station (non-emergency number) to see if they ticket or will end a wedding. Once you know the stakes, it makes it easier.

At one beach the punishment was a fine of $50, but the beach reservation fee was $75. Checking saved them money.

Good Luck!

It depends upon how important it is for you for the day to go smoothly. If you wouldn't mind having to alter your plans before or mid ceremony then don't pay. If you want to make sure that your day is flawless with no glitches (that you can avoid anyways) then pay the $185.00 it is cheap compared to the "donations" that are expected at either a church or a temple. Or what you would pay for a hall for the time.

If it were me, I would put down the $185 just for peace of mind!
