I am really good friends with this woman at work, I personally know her boyfriend who is my friend also and have hung out with him on numerous occasions, I've heard him yell at her on the phone call her names, moves into her house and have her drive 9 miles away from home on her day off just to bring him lunch after just hearing him degrade her. It is not my place to save this relationship, but she is my friend so I ask how are things and is she okay, and she went on and one about how things couldn't be better with her boyfriend. So I just let it go and said that's good to hear. She stands around at work and tells the other woman how great things are when he ( her boyfriend ) thinks it funny to tell the guys in the lunchroom how he treats her like crap and how she comes back for more. Why would a woman pretend she was happy could she be? p.s we all work together in a hospital

Maybe she's afraid of him, he's a bastard and thinks that treating women like this makes him more of a man. You said that all of you work at a hospital so maybe he threatened to fire her. This kind of abuse usually brings low self esteem to your friend. But try no to act irrational, find out what you can from her other friends, and if it is as bad as it is you and her can confront him together, maybe there's even a law against this kind of treatment.

Probably think he is the only man she get, or he has brow beat and even threatened her in some way. Like saying if she tries to leave him that he might kill her. So she stays and gets degraded even more. And to have folks not pity her or tell her to get away from him she says things are going good and great. So that way others stay away. Even though she very much needs the help in breaking away from the man.

Well sometimes its niceto say things are one way when they are not really. We can dream u know. LOL. People dont like to tel people the truth becuase its none of their business or becuase if they say whats really going on then they will have to listen to a bunch of stuff that they really dont care to hear. Everone does everthing for different reason I guess.

It's easier to pretend that things are alright That way you dont have to face the fact that your in a rooten relationship that is going no where. Been there done that and got the t-shirt.

sweetie your friend sounds like she is suffering from low self esteem and that she has to have a man in her life just to say she has one. the only thing you can do is listen to her if she wants to talk and maybe ask her why she put up with his abuse. maybe asking him does he thinks treating women like that makes him a man. they both need help but only they can change themselves for the better. good luck

People act (in relationships) the way their parents relationship was. She obviously seen this behavior growing up (male disrespects female) Her mother must have taken this from her husband and/or boyfriend. She needs to see this behavior first then try to fix it and it will NOT be easy.
If you really care you can try to talk to her in a VERY CARING way.

no she is not happy but some people don't like to say that their in a bad relationship that her boyfriend is emotionally abusive just keep trying to talk to her the situation can only get worse

BeCause the hardest thing admit is the truth especially when someone you love (think you love) is mistreating you to yourself much harder to others. NO one likes to know that they are being a doormat. People think lies are so much easy than the truth.

Very good question. The only thing I can figure is that she doesn't think she deserves any better treatment. Poor kid. She learned a bad thing.
