The negative (and this coming from a Christian) is that most Christians are ignorant of what they believe and just use it as a safety blanket. They never delve into what they believe. The reason this is a problem, is when they talk to a non-Christian (such as on here), they look ignorant and self-centered and turn people off to Christianity.

The positive is a hope which some people find. It also helps keep order in society, because the basics of this country were founded on Christian belief.

Religion is what keeps poor people from killing rich people. Mind you, I am middle class, I do not covet the rich nor do I pity most poor people in this country. (Other countries with no opportunities, yes). This is just an observation.

Religion is usually the cause of war. I would have hoped by now that we as a global society would have out grown the need but we have not. It's kind of like a child having an imaginary friend. As a small child it is fine but as they grow, it becomes more and more troubling that they can not shake it.

negative - people feel guilty about being alive, people feel guilty about all that they're blessed with, this forum is a good example of how much endless insulting and debating it has caused, on a larger scale more wars have been fought over religion than any other, it is the cause of all fear and guilt in this world, it causes parents to yell at and threaten their children for just being themselves, it is unnatural, it has caused mass genocide of entire races of peoples

positive - Yes, God does exist, so they are correct in that aspect

Well, The Constitution has worked well for us, it's based on Biblical principals, as is the structure of the government. That is why it has lasted this long, and that is why you are free to ask that question.

positive: encourage morals and values, positive goals. in theory most religions encourage unity, tolerance, love, peace, hope, treating others as u treat urself..etc.

negative: human nature always finds faults; people who don't do "enough", who don't follow the "right way"... starts divisions instead of bringing people together. people start judging eachother, using behavior as indicators instead of true tolerance
