You would have to test the food to know for certain. I too have read that article and decided to replace my plastic containers with glass ones for that reason. But we have been heating plastic containers since the microwave first became available and the population is not dropping like flies. Cancer is a funny thing - doubles in size about every 6 months. Starting at one cell it will take years for the result to become apparent. All you can do is follow health practices - if warped plastic worries you - don't heat it again.

According the Journal of the American Medical Association, it most certainly is true. SOME plastics release carcinogenic molecules when heated in a microwave. No way for the man on the street to tell which plastic will or wont. Recommendation, do not heat ANY plastics in the microwave, use waxpaper, paper plates, paper cups etc.

Yes, I heard this as well, and do not doubt it at all. I also read that freezing water in a plastic bottle can release dioxin into the water too. Check rense.com for a good article about this.

Apparently there was some e-mail hoax that convinced people that Johns Hopkins researchers were saying plastic water bottles are toxic and whatnot...the article above sets the record straight about cooking with plastics...see the following link if you're curious about the water bottle hoax: http://www.jhsph.edu/publichealthnews/articles/halden_dioxins.html.

I would not worry about that study, most of them are untrue or unfounded. The only bad thing about using a microwave is it destroys most vitamins and nutrients in healthy foods.
