The lack of melanin in his skin is leaving light blotchy patches on his shoulders neck and back. He says it is not bothering him and this is all fine but I think he should get it checked out just to be sure. Is it anything to worry about? most of the information I have found is quite vague and he is refusing to go to the doctors. If you are a sufferer or know anything about it I would appreciate your info.

My boyfriend had exactly what you describe and it got a lot worse last year when he went on hol and got a tan as those bits didnt tan. We went to the docs and they referred him to a dermatologist where they then gave him some meds which he took for 10 days and they said it was a fungal infection (we thought it looked like vitiligo). They said it would be gone in 9 months and it has cleared up completely now. Dont know if its the same thing but def worth a trip to the docs. Hope this helps coz we couldnt get any info either.

I have psoriasis and this leaves pale patches on my skin, and I don't get the flaky skin either.

there is no danger of any major problem occurring because of this condition
there is no pain associated with it
