It makes them feel good to believe that something is looking out for them, and if they screw up (as we all do at times) they will not be totally condemned for it. But I find no evidence sufficient to justify such beliefs.

Well, for those of us who know him as savior he is not fictional. All through time people have made idols and images with their own hands and worshipped them. I think that as a Christian looking through some of these questions (not yours but others) I see a lot of animosity towards Christians. I think maybe that makes some people who are Christians angry and they give into that anger and lash out. Maybe you caught some of the lashing after they read more ugly questions than they could stand that day. When I read those questions I just feel sad. Sad that those people don't know him the way I do, but I always hope that someday they will. You know, you really can have a close personal relationship with him. You just have to open up your heart and ask him in. Pray, find a good church where there are strong believers (and by that I mean people who really know him, not people who are just overly assertive) who can help you along the way and read your Bible so you really know what he is about. But only if you decide you want to. No person can force you and God won't force you. He wants you to know and love him because you want to know and love him. I wish you well. Peace.... (-:

It is possible that Jesus never existed, but implausible. The Jesus depicted in the New Testament is in all likelihood, not historical. However, that there are so many canonical and noncanonical stories about him, as well as historians like Philo (although he never actually saw Jesus) who mention him, that Jesus of Nazareth was an historical figure. Whether Jesus the Christ was though, is a different matter.

People believe in Jesus because they have a need to believe in their own self importance. If they are created by evolution then they dont really matter because they were an accident. If they believe in Jesus they can pretend that their existence actually matters to the world. Everyone wants to be remembered and important and most people really arent.

i'm confident that Jesus did exist. In 1947 a replica of the e book of Isaiah grow to be found, alongside with different historical scrolls, in a cave close to the lifeless Sea. pupils desperate that this reproduction grow to be made greater advantageous than a hundred years in the previous the beginning of the foretold Messiah, or Christ. The Bible printed the destiny. in case you verify out Luke 2:23 it shows Jesus lineage. there is historic strategies that David and many others of Jesus lineage existed. If there is evidence that they existed and that they are listed interior the Bible, Jesus could have had to exist besides.

Oh you of little faith. How dare you question the existence of God? And clearly you're committing a blasphemy for comparing Jesus to a fictional character like Mickey Mouse. Ten lashes for you; or off to the guillotine. Ever heard of blind faith.

everyboyd worships something in this life. you happen to be your own God. you decide what's right. you decide what's wrong. you decide what's true and what's false depending on how you feel about a certain topic, not whether there is evidence for you to beleive it. You go through life basing your theology on whether or not you can understand something. if you can't understand it, it can't be true. I would rather take my chance with Jesus than myself. At least with Jesus, millions of other people will be decieved along with me.

Wait, people believe in and follow Mickey Mouse? No one I know. And, sir/ma'am/undecided, you can never, ever prove that Jesus didn't exist. It's as impossible as "proving" that Abraham Lincoln didn't exist.
