I read today that by the year 2010 1 in 3 people will be classed as clinically obese in the UK. I'm sure its nothing to do with the fact that these fatties eat too much crap and cant be bothered to exercise. But for the life of me I dont know what the real reason is.Any ideas?

The types of food they eat sure won't help them stay slim. The key is to eat very small portions of that greasy English crap food.

Too many parents allowing their children to live/eat fast food McDonald's/KFC.

We are just getting lazy as a nation - using the car everywhere. Personally I am not sure if this is because people do not feel safe walking?

Have you noticed that in supermarkets the BOGOF are always on none healthy foods/high fat foods?

I am currently in Asia, the last time I was here was in 2004 the people are much bigger time time around. Globally people are getting bigger they say that Hull is the number one place for obesity in the UK - again you may question why is this?

do u have kids? im 23 and have a 2 year old. he tries to avoid healthy food, and wants nothing but crap! im quite strong, and am strict with his diet, however, i can imagine many parents dont see things the way i do! i live on a council estate, and see kids that eat cakes and other sugary snacks all day long! Im sure parents see this as an easy way to keep kids quiet, but im really health consious!!! Im only a small proprtion of the uk, and im sure only about 25% of us ar like me! if the other 75% aren't, then yes, we will be a nation of fatties! also, things like X boxs and ps2s have a large part to play!!!

Take out the UK and substitute USA. It's really bad here. Esp in my area. I think it's because people watch way too much tv and eat chips, nachos, ect while they are watching. A nation of couch potatoes!

Oh goodness me, you are going to reassure all those overweight people they have slow metabolisms and it's the fault of their glands next.

It is jolly hard to lose weight. Hurrah for anyone who does it. But yes, it is tiresome to hear people say it is not their fault they are fat. Of course it is nicer to lard on the sofa than go exercise - but we must be mentally strong and rise to the challenge!

By the way, yes, I do think the UK will become a nation of chubby chops.

2 words Aspartame and splenda; remove these from your diet and you can be thinner than those who refuse to do so. Go to your local library and read a book titled "the BITTER truth about ARTIFICIAL sweeteners" My personal opinion is that everyone who wants to be healthier should have this book as required reading.

i think that is total rubish and someone cna be a tiny bit over weight and be classed as clinicly obese and if you look around there are loads of skiny people so i dont think there is anything to worry about.

They could be eating too much because of the jerks who makes them depressed and they run to food for comfort. because they are not encouraged to do better.
