Because your either shy or nervous around him or by seeing him. Or we just think it's kind of weird that he waved to you!

I'll smile back, but if it seems something more is implied I may try to avoid eye contact after that if I am uncomfortable. You say "when you see a good-looking guy" that's an opinion that can only be formed the other person too so maybe the guy just isn't that girls type and so she avoids.

We have a bubble around us...we don't like to have it invaded...when someone smiles at you the are in a way confronting you...it can sometimes make you uncomfortable.

Because most guys dont smile to be polite. I dunno really... If a guy smiles at me, I smile back, but im naturally flirty - Even its just being polite, I think its so sweet when someone just smiles at you!
