when a crime is committed the people should be punished because they did a crime. locking them in jail is only to keep them off them streets and from doing it again. treating inmates well is the worst thing that can be done because It is only showing them they can do the crimes and not really be punished with being treated well. you say Isn't punishment up to god anyway. yes it is but not until god wants them punished , that is why their are places for the criminals to go for now. Not killing the ones who are doing the killing first is silly. Jails and prisons cant keep every criminal locked up , it would be over crowded. stopping them form doing wrong would be mission impossible . there are too many to stop or try to stop and I cant think of how that can be done . when some have been in jail/prison for 10 or more years and are released , some still do crimes . its all a big circle that keeps going around and around. letting criminals live is not right. They kill and they do not deserve to live . I don't know if this is the right out look on your question but its all i have .

How exactly do you figure it takes more $to execute someone than to feed and cloth him/her for life? Can you provide factual documentation on this? How exactly would you like people to stop the criminal from "crime-ing" ? (You know that's not a word right?) Why should jail be a good place? If it were a good place then criminals would commit more crime to get back in. What are you 12?

God takes too long to punish. Even some criminals live a full life without punishment.
You think waiting on God can stop that person from committing the crime again?
People should be punished to discourage crime. I don't have the urge to go rob a bank because I know the penalty!

Not every criminal can be rehabilitated. Some deserve to be right where they are, in prison. They are already treated pretty well in there. They get free room and board, food, even entertainment. If we didn't have some way of punishing criminals there would be total anarchy. There has to be some laws in place to separate the bad from the good in society.

You have a point. But how can you help someone who doesn't want your help? How can you straighten them if you don't let them know the consequences of what they did? Yes, I say don't kill them. I think if someone did a crime punishment is just natural thing and after that try to help them change for a better life.

your right , in a way. Way to many people are in jail. And actually neither a bullet or a piece of rope cost very much. There should be no such thing as "life in prison" if the crime is that bad, hang'em up and make an example. That would help crime!

The punishment of criminals is about crime prevention. The idea is to stop an known criminal from reoffending and deter future criminals from doing the same.
"Don't kill them either, it even costs more to do that than to lock them away for life."
Really? Please explain to me how it costs less to provide food, lodging, guards, sewage treatment, etc. for 50 years than it does to buy a rope, tie a noose, and toss it over a tree limb.
Your argument that executions are too expensive is really just an argument for cheaper forms of execution. There are plenty of such methods readily available.

If Jail was a good place, wouldnt that make crime rise? Jail is a deterrent, and if you werent punishing people for crimes, well then crimes would increase. There has to be consequences, other wise crime would be much more widespread. I cant believe you would even ask this question.

I don't care if they like jail or not. I think of it more like I don't want to live around these people so stick them in their own colony.
Your question is technically wrong. The execution is very cheap. The appeal process is what is costing so much money. In California, if you put in a appeal, you could delay your execution until they are all resolved. Enough of them and you could die of old age on death row. Texas didn't have that problem.

Wow !!! if someone killed your loved one you would want to give them candy pat them on there but and send them off to kill someone else!
i think if someone does a crime that same crime needs to be done to them 10 fold! meaning if you kill someone then i get to kill you 10 times yes bring your sorry butt back to life and do it again! and repeat!
And no judgement day may come and at that time it is up to "God" but he gave us faith to care for our own! and gave us goverment to look after us!
so you be the judge!
I have one life and i'm not going to let a criminal get by me! can you imagine if there were no jails! would you be safe at your party store!! or is that just gods plan to kill you while your buying your kids some milk! over all it isn't worth it!
Thanks for letting me vent!
Interesting quetion!!!
Mad luv
