promise yourself a small treat for every deadline you meet - preferably non-alcoholic so that you are not incapacitated for the next deadline. (obviously does not apply to the last deadline - cheers!!)

First, change every "I can't...." to "I am not willing to...."

Next, prioritize. What do you need to be responsible for FIRST? Is it an assignment? A test? Make that your first effort.

Quit wasting time with what you already know. Focus on what you are unsure or uncertain of. Find someone (friend, relative, pet) to teach that to. Call someone and explain it to them. This will force you to take on a new perspective, and you will be motivated by the self-preserving need to be correct. You will accidentally learn something and retain it...

Next, be sure to remember this: You will retain more easily the FIRST thing and the LAST thing you encounter. Think about a long list of numbers.....you might forget the middle few, but you will be more likely to remamber the first and last few.

Now apply that to your studies. Once you have prioritized what you need to do in what order, schedule as many mimi-breaks (a few minutes here and there) in between tasks. This will increase the number of "FIRSTS" and "LASTS" to retain.

A couple of thoughts......it takes longer to b*tch about doing something than to actually do it. If you do it now, you can buy more time to be able to take advantage of spontaneous opportunities that come up (your friend calls you and invites you somewhere.....you CAN go because you have gotten your work done).

Hope this helps.....
