I think they announce their order in both english and spanish to get into the theme of a spanish restraunt.
I do however agree with you on the rudeness of speaking spanish in front of others who can't.
I speak both languages but I would never do that in front of non-spanish speaking people.

My OPINION On This
The Owner Of The Joint Should Be Able
To Set The Standard Of Courtesy In His Place
ie;
Dress Code
Service Languages
And Other Similar Policies Within His Business
Be It A Restaurant, A Nightclub
Or A Sandwich Shop
Without Fear Of Repercussion From The Community
Like Joe Vento Faced In Philly Recently

Did you read the name of the place??? Pollo Loco. They suppose to speak Spanish, because it is a Hispanic Restaurant which its employees are hispanic, duh!!!
If you feel like insulted, don't go there anymore, they don't need your money. This country is multi-cultural...Didn't you notice it before?
Now they announce in both languages because other people rather than Hispanic people go there too and some of those people don't speak Spanish. There are another places that have their ads in both languages or even in more than two languages an example would be WAL-MART or H-E-B. They're not just reserved for American people such as yourself.

I agree, I seen many instances at my former employer where hispanics would make comments to people in spanish with a smileon their face like they are making a compliment, you see a couple hispanics chuckle that are in the area around them.
What is really funny is this little skit was done to a co-worker of mine that was married to a hispanic woman, and he was fluent in spanish... needless to say in America we don't use the phrase "your mother is a whore" as a way of thanking some one.
Needless to say, in a work enviroment, or any where for that matter if you don't speak to me in english, I will not be able to help you.

Like Big Jay 7 said there is no official or legal language in the U.S. so what's wrong with them speaking in what ever language they speak they arn't speaking to you in that language are they and if you don't understand just say you don't understand. You get all pissed off over nothing. Besides you are the one giving them the business why don't you just go to KFC that's in English.

You have to remember that U.S.A. doen NOT have a ruling language. That why when you fill any goverment paper you have an option to get it in other languages. U.S. is not only filled with immegrants from England, but from all over the world. If they had to choose a language would have to be Cherokee or Redskin if you know what I mean.

It's like that at most fast food places in California. It means that many minimum wage jobs are held by people who don't speak English. It's not fair they can take jobs without already knowing English and we have trouble getting jobs without being bilingual.

You had a bad day right?
You went there just so you could come here to gripe right?
Please is this really what this has boiled down to?
Words?
Are you always respectful to everyone?
All the time?
Or are you one of those that thinks the world should bow to your every whim?
